Chief interpreter during the transition period of electric energy privatization and restructuring in Brazil. PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND: I own a translation & interpretation company named Contexto Tradução e Interpretação Ltda. I have been an interpreter and translator, mainly in English<>Portuguese, since the late 1980s, having provided written translations and simultaneous interpreting, especially in areas such as telecoms, information technology, corporate matters, financial, energy, legal, human resources, and engineering, among others. I have also been a teacher at Associação Alumni's Translation and Interpretation Course, since 1995. A teacher of translation techniques for subtitling at West End Idiomas, an English school in São Paulo, 1995/97. English teacher at two schools: Essential and West End Idiomas, 1994/95. Assistant Editor at the International Weekly Edition of Gazeta Mercantil financial newspaper, 1989/94. I provided translations from English, French, and Italian into Portuguese for VCR subtitles as a self-employed translator, for Audiolar home videos (now called Videolar) in 1992/93. I translated "Business English," a collection of 30 booklets for English students, from Spanish into English, published by Editora Globo in 1990. LANGUAGES: Native Portuguese and fluent English from early childhood, having lived in London ages 2 to 5. In my teens, I lived for a while in the U.S. I also visited several European and Latin American countries. Spanish, French, and Italian are my "passive" languages (good enough knowledge to translate from these languages into Portuguese and English) COURSES/CERTIFICATES: ATA (American Translators Association) English>Portuguese Translator Certification awarded in September, 2005.
