Brazilian Style

Chapter 1

_Man, I can’t believe we have to stop for a month! –said in disbelief.
_It’s bad ‘cause we love to perform but it’s good at the same time ‘cause we’re gonna have a well deserved 
vacation. –observed.
_Yeah, you’re right but the reason they gave us to take these forced vacations was absurd! Bad publicity?! 
Come on, it’s not fair. –said a little bit upset.
_Come on, they’re right. I’ve been in trouble several times, ’s having fights in public and
and you’re with a different girl everyday. I guess those are the worst publicity we could have. –tried to 
explain.
The boys got in’s house. They went to the living room and carried on chatting.
_So, where are we gonna spend our vacation? –asked.
_I don’t know. If we gotta be out of circulation for a month I guess we should go somewhere we’re not 
popular. –answered.
_You’re right. And we can’t let people know we’re celebrities. –agreed.
_Ok, I’m gonna take the world map. 
went to his room an, after 5 minutes came back with the map.
_Well guys, here’s the world. –said opening it.
_Let’s see... we could go to US. –suggested.
_Come on, we’re always there for something! We need to go somewhere we’ve never been before. –
observed.
_We’ve never been in Brazil. –said.
They looked at each other.
_Samba.... –said smiling.
_Sun... –tripped.
_Beaches... –said standing up.
_Girls in bikini and LAMBADA... the forbidden dance! –said with a dirty smile.
_Fine by me! We can go to Brazil now! –said still smiling.
_Ok but which place do we go? –asked.
_Let me see, I’ve heard that Rio de Janeiro is really good this time of the year. –said pointing to 
the map.
_Hello! We’re in January! While we’re here shivering with this cold weather in Brazil they’re sweating, dressed 
in tiny clothes and hanging on the beach! –said ironically.
After 30 minutes of conversation and a discussion that almost led them to smack each other,yelled.
_SHUT UP!!!! I decide where we’re going.
He closed his eyes, raised his forefinger and in a random movement laid it on the map.
_Ok, we’re going to Santos. –said putting an end to the discussion.
_Is it a beach place? –dared to ask.
_Well, I can see the sea under the name on the map. –answered.
_Let’s find something on the Internet. 
led his friends to the computer and in minutes found some pretty good stuff about the place.
_Check this out, the city is in the Guinness Book for the biggest garden on beach extension. – 
sounded amazed.
_Pelé played there for almost his entire carrier. –observed.
_I really need to see the arena where he played. –said.
_Look those kiosks. They serve food right there at the beach. This trip is gonna be great! –said all excited.
_So, let’s find a hotel to stay. –said.
_What if we stay in a flat by the beach instead of a hotel? – wondered.
The boys looked at each other.
_And how are we gonna do it? –asked.
explained his idea and on the next day the boys rented a flat and a car and booked their flight for 
Wednesday.
The day they left UK was crazy. There were fans screaming all over the airport and that made the boys 
have second thoughts about their trip but it was too late, everything was done and they were forced to take 
those vacations. To dodge the journalists, photographers and fans, the boys took a flight to Mexico first and 
then went to Brazil. Once they got in the plane they were getting all excited about the vacations again and 
was talking more than usual. Around 5am on Thursday, the boys arrived in São Paulo and at 6:30am 
they reached the flat in Santos.
_Here we are! –stepping out the car.
_Wow man, feel this cool breezy! –said closing his eyes.
_Check it out.... the beach’s across the avenue. –pointed.
_Let’s unpack, get some sleep and then we go explore the city. – suggested.
They all agreed and got in the building. The doorman helped the boys with their luggage and when
opened the elevator door, a girl came out with a bunch of papers on her hands and bumped into him dropping 
everything on the floor. The girl couched to pick up her things when suddenly another girl came jumping 
over the couched girl yelling a bunch of things that the boys couldn’t understand.
_I’m sorry. –tried to apologize.
The girls ran out of the building leaving the boys with a big question mark on their heads then they finally 
went to their flat.
_It’s big; it has four rooms! –said looking around.
_It’s just as big as’s house. –joked.
The flat was amazing. It had a huge kitchen, the bedrooms were beautiful with an incredible view of the 
beach and the living room was enormous with the same view as the bedrooms. The boys unpacked and slept 
almost all day long. Around 3pm Lee woke up, went to’s bedroom and opened the door making a 
huge noise. 
_... – he whispered – ...are you sleeping?
_Not anymore, what’s wrong? – answered in a harsh voice.
_I’m tired of sleeping, I wanna do something. –answered a bit upset.
_Look,andare still sleeping so we could look for a grocery store or a supermarket to buy some 
food, ok?
_Then we eat and go for a ride around town. –said sounding like a kid.
took a shower to wake up and try to adjust to the time zone. In minutes the 2 boys were going to 
find a place to buy food.
_Right... we don’t speak Portuguese. –observed.
_And is that a problem? –asked.
_How are we going to communicate around here? 
_Mime I guess.
laughed but admitted it was better than starve to death or be cloistered for a month. In front of the 
building they discovered it wasn’t that simple.
_Great. Start doing your mime. –teased.
_Come on; must have a store nearby.
looked both ways trying to find something or someone who could help them.
_Posso ajudar? – the doorman asked.
_What?! –andasked clueless.
_Sorry. May I help you? – the doorman asked again.
_You can speak our language. Thanks God! –said getting on his knees.
The doorman laughed.
_Look, we’re trying to find a grocery store or a supermarket. Can you help us? –asked lifting Lee up.
_Of course I can. If you go straight ahead the avenue you’ll find a supermarket named Pão de Açucar. The 
doorman explained and wrote some things on a paper to help them.
_Thanks man. –said shaking the doorman’s hand.
_No problem.
The boys were about to leave when the girl who bumped into that morning got in the building. She 
smiled to the boys and started to chat with the doorman. They stared her for a while and then went away. 
They found the market and after two hours, they went back to the flat.
_Where have you been? –asked.
_We were trying to buy food. –answered with his hands full of bags.
_Were you able to do it? –asked curious.
_Of course we were! We bought everything we need. Pizza, burgers, fries, ice cream.... 
was taking all that junk food out of the bags with a big smile on his face.
_We bought some fruits and vegetables too. –said laughing.
They cooked their meal and when they were about to eat the boys heard something familiar.
_Sorriderai / E ti rivedo come sei / Incrocerai / Lo sguardo mio per poi dirmi addio / E mentirei / 
Se ti dicessi "ora vai" / Oramai… oramai....
The boys looked at each other.
_We supposed to go to a place where we were not popular. –observed.
_But who could have “A Chi Me Dice” here in the building? – asked.
Next door....
_I can’t believe the day I had. –said closing the door.
_Hard work? –asked.
_No, just a new cute guy in my Italian class.
The girls laughed.
_I can’t believe you’re listening to that music again! –yelled.
_Come on! This song is really beautiful. –said making a cute face.
went to the kitchen....
_Oh my God! The guy’s gonna scream now.... A chi me dice! –screamed off key.
The boys looked at each other again.
_God! Who’s listening to the song is killing it! –joked.
_It’s coming from next door. –observed.
The boys went to the porch and Lee made a big effort to see who was next door.
_Can you see who is? –asked.
_There’s a girl. Beautiful by the way and.... wow! –lost his balance and got back inside – The girl who 
bumped intothis morning.
_Really?! Do you think they know who we are? -asked.
_Nah, if they knew the girl would have said something. –said careless.
The night went by and the boys were so tired that couldn’t leave the flat to “explore” the city. They chatted 
for a while and went to bed.
On the next day at 6am,andliterally jumped out of their beds. 
_Man! Who’s listening to Outkast at this time? –asked a little angry.
_At least “Hey Ya” is a good song. –said kind of dizzy.  
_Is too early! –cried.
_I envynow. I wish I could be a rock like him. –said putting his hands on the head.
Suddenly the music stopped and thenwoke up.
_What happened? – he asked clueless.
_Didn’t you hear the music? –asked surprised.
_What music? –asked rubbing his eyes and lying on the couch.
_I told you he is a rock. 
went to the kitchen to make breakfast.
_We could talk to the doorman later; maybe he can help us walk around town. –suggested.
_It’s not a bad idea. Maybe he could teach us some handful words too. –observed.
The boys ate their breakfast and then went to talk to the doorman.
_Hey! –shouted.
_Hey guys! Did you have a good night sleep? – the doorman asked politely.
_Very good ‘till “Hey Ya” starts. –answered laughing.
_Oh… the girls from the 72. Get use to this. They are the party of the building. 
They all laughed.
_By the way I’m, these are,and.
_I’m Wilson.
_So Will, what can we do here? –asked.
_What do you wanna do? 
_We were thinking about going to the beach or drive around... we don’t know. –answered.
Wilson named a bunch of things they could do, made a list of useful sentences and words and the boys went 
to explore the town. They saw lots of things, people and girls, of course.
_Man, we’re in heaven! –said smiling.
_And we were complaining about the vacations. –observed.
_I guess we could get in trouble more times. –joked.
At 1pm they had lunch at Vista Ao Mar, a restaurant that’s specialist in sea food, then bought some stuff 
and around 3pm they went back to the building.
_So, did you have fun? – Wilson asked.
_Man, the city is great! –said all excited.
_The only thing that’s missing is to see the arena here. –said.
_Don’t worry man. Next weekend Santos is gonna play here at Vila Belmiro, we can go to the match if you 
want. 
_Ok man, it’s gonna be great! –said thrilled. 
Suddenly some guys showed up and said something to Wilson.
_Sorry guys, work’s calling.
He called someone on the inter-phone and in 5 minutes the girls from the 72 showed up. One of them was 
holding a surfboard. The boys watched those people crossing the avenue going to the beach.
_What are you waiting for guys? You’re on vacation! Go enjoy the beach! – Wilson shouted. 
The boys went to change their clothes and in “seconds” they were on the sand catching a tan. 
Around 5pm the beach still was full of people, the sun was great and the boys were getting really hot!
_Man, I’m frying here! –said fanning himself.
_You’re right mate. Let’s take a dive. –suggested.
_I’m in! –yelled standing up.
_What about you guys? –asked.
_Nah, I think I’ll go talk to that girl over there. –said smiling.
_I’m gonna stay here catching a tan. –said putting his sunglasses. 
_Or a very bad case of sunburn.       
joked and went to take a dive with. They were having a real good time when the sea got stirred 
and the waves got bigger. The boys were trying their best to come out but more they swam more the sea 
dragged them inside.andnoticed that something was wrong and started to look for help.
_Something is happening over there. –said pointing to the sea.
_Come on, there’s a guy drowning. 
grabbed her board and they went to the sea.paddled tillwho was at a “safe zone”.
_Aguenta aí....
_What?! – he asked almost drowning.
She grabbed his arm.
_Hang on! 
Suddenly she heard another cry for help and sawstruggling for his life.
_My friend’s gonna take you out in a minute. I’m gonna take your friend who’s really far.
looked behind and sawcoming to helpthen started to paddle again to help.
_Help! –cried.
_I’m here.... hold the board and try to climb it. I’m gonna help you. –yelled holding him.
held the board but couldn’t climb it ‘cause the waves were getting really strong.
_I’m gonna die! – he said almost giving up.
_No you’re not! – she pulled him again – Hold really tight!
put his hands firmly on the board so she could help him climb it. 
_Now paddle as much as you can! – she yelled.
They start to make a team work and after a while both were on the sand again.was already there 
breathing heavily.helpedto sit down.
_Thank you... – he said almost breathless.
_Never mind. Just rest and catch your breath again, ok?
said throwing herself on the sand trying to rest as well.
Once they were able to breath normally againstarted a conversation.
_Thanks again you both, if it weren’t for you God knows what might happened to them.
stood up.
_Are you two out of your mind?! – she yelled.
_What? –asked clueless.
_Did you see the size of the waves? You should never go beyond the surf line!
_, take it easy. They got distracted, that’s all. –said trying to ease the things.
_That’s why fools die all the time.
grabbed her board and went back to the sea. She was surfing more aggressively than before.
_Never mind her, she’s just concerned about what happened. – tried to apologize.
_That’s ok. –said politely.
_I’mand my friend is.
_I’m. This guy here is, the one you took out of the sea isand the one your friend 
helped is.      
They all shook hands and carried on chatting. After a while came back. 
_I’m calling the day off! I’m tired of surfing. – she said a little upset.
_Sorry for ruin your afternoon. –said feeling guilty.
_That’s ok... maybe tomorrow the day will be just like today.
The girl went to the beach shower to take the salt water off her body, washed her board and went away.
_I guess she didn’t like us. –observed.
_She’s just concerned. I bet later she’ll be more flexible. – said standing up.
_I hope so. –said still feeling guilty.
_By the way, tonight we’re throwing a party at the dance hall in the building. If you wanna come just show 
up around 9pm, ok? –invited.
_Sure! It’s gonna be good! –said standing up.
_So boys... I guess I’ll see you.

_Are we going to the party? –asked.
_Of course we are! –stood up – I sawin bikini, I’m gonna try to see her without it!
_Ok,’s back on. –joked.
The boys went back to the flat and were all excited about the party.was talking aboutall the time.
_I have to make my move so, you know what to do. – he said looking at the mirror to see if he was cute.
_ grow up! Go get the girl by yourself! –said pushing him.
_No man! I’m afraid of rejection just like. –joked.
_Hey! Let me out of this besides, the girl seems to be really nice so if she says “no” to you she’ll be polite.

_Where’s the guy who if sees a girl he likes go and say : “You’re Fit”? –asked.
_Yeah! Where’s the guy? –teased fixing his hair.
_I don’t know man! Maybe in my pocket!
They were laughing a lot trying a bunch of different clothes and posing like they were in a fashion show. 
Next door...
_, if I tell you something you promise you won’t be mad? –asked a little apprehensive.
_What did you do? –asked crossing her arms.
_I invited the British neighbors to the party.
closed her eyes fearing her friend’s reaction.
_That’s ok. It’s your party too you can invite anyone you want.
didn’t understand what happened.
_What did you say?
_You heard me; I don’t care.
_Really?
_Yes. Just don’t let those boys around the beer tank.
_Why?
_They might drown again.
laughed so hard thatthought she was going to have an attack.


Chapter 2

_So let’s go! –said all excited.
_Let’s have some fun and get some babes! –added.
The boys went to the dance hall and when the elevator door opened they saw a bunch of people already 
dancing; even Wilson was there. When they stepped inside the room Nelly’s “Iz U” started to play.   
_Wow man! These girls know how to party! –said enjoying the music.
saw the boys coming and went to talk to them. 5 minutes latershowed up too.
_Are you two better now? – she asked.
_Yes, much better. Thanks again. –answered.
_, those are,,and. –introduced.
_I guess you already know my name. – the girl said smiling.
_To tell the truth.... yes. –joked.
_So make yourselves at home and enjoy the party. –backed away a little – If you need something 
just ask!
The boys looked at each other.
_Is that the same girl we met at the beach? –asked.
_I told you she’d be more flexible now. Come on! Let me introduce you to some of our friends.

_Ok, never mind what I told you before! – he whispered.
The boys laughed and followed the girl. They were feeling really comfortable at the party.
_I can’t believe! No journalists, no photographers, no one following us.... –observed.
_I’ve already told you, we’re in heaven! We can do anything we want without being watched. –
explained.
They were dancing, drinking, chatting; you name it! Few hours later,started to look atin a 
different way.
_I don’t know if is the beer talking but.... I guess I’ll make a move on.
_Go for it mate! She’s beautiful. I guess you fit together. – said encouraging.
He went towards the girl with a beautiful smile on his face.
_Do you want something? –asked.
_Yes, you!
_Hey, hold on boy! You’re kind of drunk. Don’t say things you might regret. – she advised him.
didn’t pay attention on what she said and kept going towards her ‘till she got stuck between him 
and the wall, and then he started to kiss the girl’s neck.
_I told you man. Back off. You don’t wanna do it. – she advised again.
_Come on. I know you want me. –said smiling.

The girl took a deep breath and....

She passed under his arm.

_Any luck? –asked.

gave a dirty smile and kept on looking at her. Around 2am, the boys were talking to the girls when 
suddenly “The Way You Move” started.
_Wow! This song is the best! –said moving his body.
_So come on boy! Show me the way you move. –said leading him to the dance floor. 
andwere really close. He was holding her by the waist as she moved in a sexy way; they seemed 
to be dancing on “Steps”, that club on “Save The Last Dance” movie.felt a bit of jealousy but he was 
patient, it was just a matter of time to make the right move.
_So, are you liking the city? –asked.
_Well, we only saw a few things considering we arrived here yesterday. –explained. 
_Oh, you’re the guys from yesterday morning on the hall away.
_Yes, you bumped intoand dropped a bunch of things. –said smiling.
_Yes, I remember. I wasn’t paying attention. I was really late to go to college. 
_What do you study? – he asked interested.
_I’m on my last year at Law school.

The night went by and at 5:30am, the party was officially over.
_Do you want help to clean this mess? –offered.
_Nah... we hired some people to do it. 
said leaving the dance hall.
The next day around 1pm the boys woke up.
_Do you believe that I woke up at 7am thinking I was late for a meeting? –said laughing.
_You’re insane man! We don’t have to worry about schedules; all we have to worry about are parties and 
girls. –said – By the way, I pulled 3 girls last night. What about you?
_I pulled 3 as well. –answered.
_I just pulled 1 ‘cause whom I really wanted didn’t want me so it was better than nothing. –said. 
_I didn’t pull any girl ‘cause I was trying something with . –said lying on the couch.
_Oh ... how sweet! –joked.
_After seeing that tiny bikini, I gotta have! 
They all laughed.
_Sodid you and....? –inquired.
_No man! We just danced and as we were dancing I noticed she has violet eyes just like Liz Taylor. –said.
_Really?! I didn’t notice it  ‘cause she doesn’t make eye contact with anyone. –observed.
_To do that, she must hide something. –said in a mysterious way.
_If she’s hiding something, I’ll find out. –said really sure.
Around 4:30pm someone knocked on their door.
_I’ll get it. –said – Hey, Faith! Come in!
He kept looking outside to see ifwas with her but, for his sadness, she wasn’t. Whensawhe 
literally jumped over the couch.
_Hey, what brings you here? – he asked all excited fixing his hair.
_I was wondering if you wanna go to the beach. It’s a beautiful day outside. – the girl invited.
_Ok! Give us a minute to get ready! –answered quickly.
The boys changed their clothes and left with the girl. They were chillin’, chatting withand some of her 
friends. There were two guys singing and playing the acoustic guitar.
_Any requests? – one of the guys asked.
_Do you know “Water Runs Dry” of Boyz II Men? –asked.
_Of course! We know everything! – one of the guys joked.
The guy started to play and the Blue boys, by an impulse, started to sing. Once the song ended everyone were 
looking at them astonished.
_Wow! If I had one of these voices I’d be opening Boyz II Men concerts. – the guy who was playing said.
_Come on! If I had one of these voices I was doing my own concerts man! – the other guy said.
_Yeah... then I’d be famous, be arrested by drinking and drive without doing the time, go to parties all the 
time and get any woman I wanted. – the guy with the guitar said.
_Come on! – one of the girls there started – To get any woman you wanted you had to have these guys looks 
as well.
The boys were getting embarrassed.
_Have you ever thought about singing professionally? –asked.
They looked at each other.
_No. We’re just shower singers. –answered with a nervous smile.
_Come on, you should try something in the music business. – said encouraging them.
The boys were getting even more nervous.
_Maybe, who knows what the future holds? –tried to put an end to that awkward conversation.
Suddenly,sawcoming. She was wearing a dress, holding her shoes in one of her hands and the 
board in the other.
_Hey! – he shouted.
_Hey guys! –said putting her board on the sand.
_You’re late, do you know girl? –complained.
_Sorry! I had a good reason.... check this out! 
The girl threw her shoes and a bunch of flyers on a beach towel.
_What’s that? –asked.
_VIP passes to the “R&B Party” tonight at Mytho’s babe! Work there pays really well! By the way you boys 
from the old continent are my guests.
The girl took her dress off showing her bikini underneath it and then put the neoprene.
_Close your mouth, you’re drooling. –whispered.
The boys disguised their laughs.
_So, who’s up to catch some waves? –asked holding back her blond hair.
Three guys stood up and ran to the sea with her.
_works in a nightclub? –asked.
_Yes, she’s a promoter there. –answered.
_So you always go there. –observed.
_Yeah but she never gets so many VIPs like today.
seemed to be really amazed and started to pass the flyers around. 
_Doeshave a tattoo on the back of her neck? –changed the subject.
_Yes and it’s really interesting. –said smiling – When she gets back, she’ll show you.
_I can see you have one too. –said looking at a Chinese symbol on her wrist – What does it mean? 
_It’s the first letter of my name.
They carried on chatting about tattoos and other stuff and when the sun was almost settingcame out 
of the sea.
_I thought you’d stay in there forever. –joked.
_No man. I just needed to enjoy the sea till the last minute of waves. –said laughing.
The girl put the board on the sand and sat on it.
_was talking about your tattoo. –said curious.
looked at them, smiled and raised her hair.
_I think it’s very creative. –observed.
_A bar code with “Made In Brasil” written above it? It’s mad girl. –yelled.
was looking at the tattoo but then started to trip over her neck.
_, stop drooling, please! –joked.

_What? – she asked.
_Nothing! – he answered quickly. 
The girl stood up.
_Well, I don’t know about you but I’ll go home to rest for tonight.
They all followedand went to their respective flats. When the girls got in theirs, the first thingdid 
was to put on some music.
_Oh God! Here we go again with “A Chi Me Dice”. –said going to the bathroom.
_Stop bothering me! It’s my favorite song.
_Good for you girl! –yelled closing the door.
Next door...
_It’s following us. I guess God’s trying to tell us that lie to the girls is not gonna be good. –said.
_We’re not telling a lie... we’re just omitting something about our lives. I guess if they find out they’ll 
understand. –explained.
_Maybe. –said serious.
_Well, we better start to get ready for the night. –said standing up.
The boys forgot about what they were talking about and started to have fun again. Next door,was all 
excited about.

_, he’s not my type. –said putting her jeans on.
_But he’s cute. –insisted.
_Well, he reminds me André. –said with a low voice.
_You’re right. He looks like André. I just realized it now.
kept putting her clothes on and didn’t say a word till was totally ready to leave for the club.
_Let’s meet the boys, eat something and then go to Mytho’s. – said opening the door.
_Are you Ok? –asked a little concerned.
_Yes, I’m fine.
They went to the boys flat.
_Hey girls, come on in. –greeted.
_What brings you here so early? –asked.
_Let’s go eat something, our treat. –said smiling.
_I like girls with attitude! –flirted.
_Are we going anywhere in particular? –asked.
_Let’s go for pizza. –said careless.
The boys loved the idea and after eating they went straight to Mytho’s. 
_Man! People everywhere and no autographs nor flashes! –yelled.
The boys were having the time of their lives. The night was going by full of Hip-Hop and R&B. The club was 
wild full of beautiful girls and they were feeling totally free! At some point “Doin’ It” of LL Cool J started 
making everyone there go insane.came close to.
_Hey “baby”! Let’s dance!
He followed her to the dance floor.started to dance all over him in a very provocative way.
thought that what she was doing was a little bit weird but went with the flow. The girl was singing and 
moving her hips as he was following her body with his hands on her waist visibly excited.
_I guess she’s a bit out of control. –observed.
_I know.... I wish I could do something about it. –mumbled. 
was totally out of control, she was touching and teasingwho first didn’t care about it but then, 
when he looked into the girl’s eyes, he realized something was wrong.
_Hey girl, hold on. You don’t wanna do something you might regret. –said concerned.
_What?! Yesterday you wanted me... –teased putting her hands on his waist.
_I’d really love to kiss you and stuff but you are drunk!
The girl looked at him.
_Ok... fair enough, I think my friend Caroline wants you so... go for it!
moved away and went to the bar to get more beer. She drank all night long dancing like mad with every 
guy who crossed her way.
_, I guessdrank more than she could. –said concerned.
_I guess too but I don’t know how to take her out of here.
