South
of Scotland Football League
First
version 1892-93

overview |
The first attempt
at league football came the year after the first non-League competitions had
appeared. Of the clubs taking part in the first South of Scotland League in
1892-93, only Mauchline had previous league experience, having finished
eighth in the Ayrshire League in 1891-92. Due to the clubs preferring to play
in cup competitions and traditional friendlies most of the fixtures weren't
played and the competition was subsequently abandoned. |
