WHAT IS AGILITY?

Agility is a sport where dogs and handlers work together to complete a series of obstacles, including jumps, teeter totters, tunnels and more, while racing against the clock. Both speed and accuracy are judged.

Agility is fun for both the dog and the handler!  Dogs love it! They gain confidence in their abilities to master each obstacle, and they enjoy the freedom of running, jumping and crawling through the challenges.  Handlers enjoy the special bond that makes their pet their partner.

There are several organizations that sanction competitions in the United States.

(USDAA) - United States Dog Agility Association

(NADAC) - North American Dog Agility Council

(AKC) - American Kennel Club

(UKC) - United Kennel Club

The USDAA, NADAC & UKC agility trials are open to all dogs regardless of breed, so any purebred or mixed breed dog can compete.  The AKC agility trials are open only to dogs with an AKC registration.  However, you can get an Idefinite Listing Privilege (ILP) in some instances.  Contact the American Kennel Club for more information.
