My report is on World War II and it lasted from 1939 to 1945. In 1941, 2 Canadians were sent to Hong-Kong and approximately 5000 Canadians landed in Dieppe, about 900 Canadians were killed and 1000 were wounded and all people 16 years old or over had to join the military. World War II was the Second World War in over 25 years and World War II was 6 years of war.
Canada contributed 12,800 pilots, navigators, aerial gunners and flight engineers, Canada also contributed (and produced) food items along with farm products and manufactured goods to fight the war. World War II had a huge impact on involved countries, but it had an enormous impact on Canada.
On September 3rd 1939, Brittan and France were in war with Germany and with in a week, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa had joined the war, with in 3 months, an entire division of CASF (Canadian Active Service Force) went to the United Kingdom.
British and Canadian troops were involved in operation Blockbuster. The war ended the Great Depression, and in 1943 Canadians were in action with Britons, Canadians were sent to Italy and then with drawn in 1945. World War II ended 60 years ago in 2005 and started 66 years ago in 2005.
The total Canadian death toll was 39,000 and the world death toll was 56,125,262.
We are lucky to live in a free country with no war of any kind. Hopefully World War II was the last World War in history.
