Coming Soon, 2004!!
Costume Start Date: January 2, 2004
Last Page Update: August 24, 2004

For those of you who are new to Lord of the Rings, Faramir is the younger brother of Boromir, one of two human members of the Fellowship, and fell defending Merry and Pippin from the Uruk Hai's in film one. (Two Towers in the books.) Faramir is also the son of Denethor, steward of Gondor and resident madman! (In my opinion!) So that is a very brief intro to Faramir, for those of you who haven't read the books yet - or seen the last movie, for that matter - I won't (or at least *try* not to) throw spoilers in here. :-)
Since before the Two Towers even came out I have been *dying* to make this costume, but just didn't have the nerve to do it for some reason! Brynn and I bought the Faramir action figure a couple of months before the actual movie opened, and I was in love with the way the costume looked on the action figure! In the Lord of the Rings books, Faramir is one of my top favorite characters, he's just the coolest, and I was very excited to see David Wenham play him, although the Faramir in the movies is much diferent than in the books! Not going to go off on a long ramble on this subject! The extended version of the Two Towers really helped the movie character, but in all honesty, I still loved the character no matter what they did. :-)

I am in the first stages of this costume, and will be working on it as my current project, but I will also be working on others while I do this. So far I have made the Ranger cloak and ordered the sword Narsil. Yes, I realize this is Aragorn's sword, actually Elendil's then reforged and renamed as Anduril and given to Aragorn in Return of the King, but I'm going to go ahead and use it for my Ranger sword. :-) Just because I've wanted it for a very long time, LOL!

I'm going to try and recreate every piece of this costume, and may even (if I have the time) learn how to make my own metal buckles and clasps with the Tree of Gondor on them. I can't wait untill this costume starts coming together, and since it's going to be such a major process, I figured it would be best to put up pages as I go along, instead of all at once. That would just be too overwhelming to me! So, if you're curious as to what I'm going to be making, check the list at the right for the entire costume list. There are no links  yet as I have only just started. :-)  I plan on wearing this to the VA Ren Faire, and/or the MD Ren Fest. Hope to see you there!
