Scarf Start Date: December 19, 2003 |

The day before Brynn, Janet, Tatiana and I were supposed to go see Return of the King in Costume on 12/20/03, we were still working on our Merry and Pippin costumes. Our house was mad with the rushing around trying to complete them in time, and from now on, if we don't have a costume done at least two days before we are supposed to wear them, that's it, we wear something else!! :-) Since my Merry costume was pretty much done, I helped Brynn get some of her costume pieces done. Usually she like to do everything on her own, but we were out of time. She had bought some yarn several months back so she could actually knit a Pippin scarf, but she just never got around to learning how. So, with that as a start, I went through my fabric stash and found some material with a "houndstooth" pattern on it, which is perfect for a Pippin scarf! (All our research has come from Alleycatscratch, they have a wonderful page on the scarf, including knitting instructions!) I then went about cutting lots and lots of little strips of different color yarn for the fringe on both ends, then I cut out the fabric for the main part of the scarf. I attached the yarn to the edges first, then I turned the scarf inside out and stitched the long seam, and then turned it right side out again when I was done. Then I just closed the ends with the fringe and it was done. Very easy, and took me no time at all, maybe all in all a little less than an hour. And it's holding up really nice!! :-) ~A Few Pictures of the Finished Scarf~
