Once the PCF rolls around, I know it's not much longer until the Maryland Renaissance Festival. The Potomac Festival in Leesburg, VA, is a fantastic annual Celtic Fest (the best in the area), there is just SO much to see and do there. (And buy, too, I went through WAY too much money, lol!) Janet finally got to go with me after talking about doing so for several years, and I think she had a really good time. I know I did. One of my highlights was talking with some reenactors from the year 550 AD and learning tons on chainmailling and how to make your own rings, etc. I'm dying for some time to try out my newly-learned skills. :-)
Janet wore the Celtic wench outfit that I gave her for Christmas (but did not finish until after St. Paddy's Day!) and I wore the Refugee dress yet again because I never did get around to making the White Wool Gown. Maybe next year, who knows....depends on how hot it is, I don't tolerate the heat very well. ;-)
I was finally able to buy one of those Celtic tapestries that I've been wanting forever. It was so funny, too, because I had been looking online for a while at this one particular one that was blue and had three horses in the center. (Loving Rohan and horses, that was why I wanted that one...hehe) The place online didn't have blue in stock I don't think, and it would be more expensive with shipping anyway, so I decided to just wait and see if I could find a cool one at the Festival. So, we were looking through the tapestries and the VERY FIRST one I pulled out was the blue one with the three horses in the center. Fate I tell, you. *L*

There's TONS of music going on throughout the festival, and there were some excellent bands, as usual.Especially this band called Lunasa, who were fantastic! Being the music lover that I am, we made sure to catch lots of the music events. And of course I had to pay a visit to House of Musical Traditions. We got there kind of late, but we still had several hours, plus then we stayed for the Night Festival and Ceilidh and saw The Prodigals. They were AWESOME! Janet and I stayed really close to the stage and danced around in our costumes, which was a ton of fun. We need more summer Celtic Festivals, because dancing and enjoying a concert in a field at night is just a hell of a lot of fun. :-D And the air was so COOL! It POURED rain last year for the festival, and this year it was just as clear as it could be, and not all that hot, which was great, and it cooled down even more at night. All in all, it was a wonderful way to start the summer. Can't wait until next year!!

These pics were all in fact taken after the Celtic Fest had ended and we were waiting for the Ceilidh to start.

This is my dad, Deak, both before the Festival............... and after..........  :-) All he did was lie down on the sleeping mat to rest for the concert, and daughter dearest here *puts on halo* draped the Jolly Roger over him! LOL, poor Dad, he puts up with a lot.

I *love* this pic of Janet, it's so hilarious! And that one of me is just way too dark, but still kind of cool.

Dad took this of Janet and I just before we headed in for the Ceilidh.
