True Inspiration

I searched a lifetime and found it not;
Then beheld its glowing face.
Its power there before me,
Moved with confidence and grace.
One moment in its presence
I am ever strong yet weak;
Its words, they seem to reach me
Before it ever speaks.
Its fire burns within the
Deepest confines of my soul,
One that motivates and drives me,
Yet I am able to control.
I have found it in its purest form
It is genuine and true,
Its name is Inspiration
And it is manifest in you.

A Vision Of Knight

On a downward spiral in my life,
I fell into a hole.
After assessing my injuries,
Escape became my goal.

My mind screamed out in anguish.
My body grew tired of trying.
I was trapped in a deep abyss of despair
And my hopes were slowly dying.

Just then a hand reached out to me;
It was strong and kind and sure.
It belonged to a bright and shining knight
With motives true and pure.

This man had surely saved my life.
And to thank him though I tried,
He accepted not my gratitude,
Saying, "I am just a guide."

His covering was tarnished;
Many battle scars it bore.
But to me it glittered as polished gold...
The armor that he wore.

He said, "Your vision's cloudy;
I am not this knight you see.
And this gratitude you offer
Belongs to He who is sending me."

When I blinked to see more clearly,
The vision came to an end...
And instead of a knight before me,
Stood a dear and lasting friend.

A Knight In Knightdale

Twas on a moonless highway,
One night I chanced to meet
A knight who lives in Knightdale
As he patrolled the streets.

The stretch of road was lonely;
My heart was gripped with fear,
When suddenly blue flashing lights
Appeared in my rear view mirror.

I checked my speed before I stopped,
Tried to think, What did I do?
He then appeared at my window and said,
"Maam... know why I'm stopping you?"

When I shrugged at the Officer humbly,
He said, "Can you step out slow?"
I complied, and then he pointed...
My rear tire was critically low.

Silently he opened my trunk
And pulled out my sorry spare.
Then he changed my tire on his own
While I patiently waited there.

This knight had soiled his armor of blue
While accepting only my thanks;
Then he gently sent me on my way
Before returning to his ranks.

And I shall always remember him
When I'm passing through this place;
There lives a knight in Knightdale
With kindness on his face.

A Wild Observation

My thoughts I write, and there are times,
Each verse is penned in metered rhyme

I sometimes sing or ramble on
Until my pain or fear is gone

Love and hurt I paint with words
With imagery, a song I've heard

My heart reads like an open book,
On every page, for those who'll look

I'm known as Sis or MJM
As Tena, Gary, KLM

Call me Jimmy, Beth, or Wes,
Darlene and Mark or just DS

I'm SomeGuy, Rita, PPO,
And many other names you know.

Sharing passion, joy, and tears,
Experiences throughout the years;

I'm at my best and worst, it seems,
When taking you into my dreams.

I am: A Poet

One Time Of The Nght

Deep in the abyss of nothingness falls
Pain like a scourge across my flesh crawled
Seeking escape in a place where light dies
Screaming release with pleading heart cries
I walked with the Nght sharing secrets and words
Found tidbits of peace in his every word
Reflected on victories, though they were few
My thoughts holding fast to that which is true
Finding a voice I whispered the fear
Thus purged my soul making everything clear
In a moment of calm new hope took my hand
Dragging me forth when I could not stand
Facing the dawn, I pause to reflect
One time of the Nght that I won't forget.

For Life

For Life is what those dying pray,
What firemen risk their own to save,
That which doctors strive to aid
And brand new parents celebrate.

For Life is what the elderly long,
Scientists wish they could prolong,
Patriots give for freedom's sake,
Geneticists slave to recreate.

For Life is what all rescuers search,
A gift God gave us here on earth;
So priceless, precious, and I hope you see
Its the kind of friend you have in me.

In Honor Of John Denver

Sweet sixteen and knew it all,
Embittered by the world I saw,
Your melodies then touched my heart
And gave my life a fresh new start.

I now see the sun in a different light,
No longer fear the eclipse of night,
Welcome the birth of a brand new day,
Appreciate living in a whole new way.

Life is precious from great to small.
I've found the wonder in a songbird's call.
A babbling brook, a gentle breeze,
I see the beauty in such things as these.

The wind, the earth, the stars, the sea,
They all are now a part of me.
I share with others what I now know:
A love for life that you helped grow.

(John Denver died on 10-12-97,
and I will miss all the good that he did
by means of his time, effort, and beautiful music.
I will always be grateful for the insight
he gave me, personally, through his music...
it changed the direction of my life.)

My Dearest Friend

To think of you inspires me
You lift my spirits joyfully
And even when I'm feeling low
Your vision sets my heart aglow.

Ask, you may, what causes this...
That thoughts of you bring happiness?
And I would say: So many things,
To look at you; to hear you sing.

These, to only name a few,
Are reasons for my love for you
But, still, they're some I do not know,
What words to use, or how to show...

You've touched my very heart and mind;
Your's is a love of rarest kind.
I love you as I love no other -
You, my dearest friend, my mother.
