Once released and I was free. But there will be no giving in, Allowing him to finally win. Suffering still afflicts my soul And on my will he takes his toll, But I will fight him from inside, My strength is there, although it hides. Torment tries to conquer me By not allowing me to see I have the means by which to cope; Tomorrow always offers hope. Surrender beckons to my heart His constant cry tears me apart. Still, I defiantly forge ahead To strive for life though feeling dead. Yet I will never quit and die Though many be the tears I cry, My heart will heal... given time; I know true love will soon be mine. |

Joy and pain, Lies in the hands of fate. You tripped me Once again Without warning And I have fallen. Bruised, broken, and bleeding, I look up from this familiar prone position Peering intently into your burning eyes With resolve in my own. The melodic softness of my voice Is replaced with the razor-sharpness Of my conviction: "Today... I will not die quietly, Give up on my desire for love, Nor the velvet of my compassion, For the armor of your hardness... Not even to protect myself From the burning missiles of your hate!" Hope arises With every dawn. And tomorrow I will peel myself Off the pavement At your crossroads, Bound and determined To face Life Again With defiance! |
