RAZE
RAZE is a statewide youth anti-tobacco movement that exposes Big Tobacco's marketing schemes to get teens hooked on tobacco. RAZE is anti-Big Tobacco. RAZE's goal is to reduce tobacco use among teens. West Virginia teens are working to tear down Big Tobacco's lies every day in every school across the state.

RAZE commotions are teen led protests; peaceful demonstrations to draw attention to the dangers of tobacco and to the lies being told by Big Tobacco.

Between 2000-2005 West Virginia experienced a 14.8% decline in the percent of high school students who have tried smoking; a 27.8% decline in the percent of high school students who are currently smoking; and a 17.4% decline in the percent of high school boys who have tried smokeless tobacco.
Sophomores Chris Davis and Nick Fowler presented the pig lung display at lunch this winter. They demonstrated to eager students and teachers the effect smoking has on a person's lungs.
RAZE members Holly Lyall and Heather Bryant were very active in the March of Dimes fundraiser.
RAZE members Amanda Dingess and Brittany Wilson collect donations from CHS students to help the March of Dimes with premature babies.
In March 2007, Mr. Kirk completed facilitator training in the Not On Tobacco (N-O-T) program and the Alternative to Suspension (ATS) program at the Chief Logan Convention Center under the direction of Mr. Tony Richards. N-O-T is a research-based cessation program for teens. ATS is offered as an option to students who face suspension for violating a school's tobacco use policy.
