Minutes of Meeting
Saturday, April 11,2009


The.meeting was called to order by President Jean Pastula.


In the absence of Secretary Nancy Clark, the minutes of the last meeting was read by the President. They were corrected and approved.

 

Treasurer, Scott Tilley stated there is $4,964.71 with money yet to be deposited.

Literary Editor, Norma Baird said she has received 36 poems and 44 stories for the Driftwood. She suggested that a form be distributed to members showing the correct way to identify the first page of your submission.

Fran Peterson, Hospitality, asked for help while she is on vacation.

Driftwood books are still for sale. It was suggested selling them at three dollars each, or two for five dollars.

Scott Tilley explained that our two guests at the last meeeting were faculty members at FIT. Information can be accessed at 411.fit.edu/cwi/ He also told of a foreign film festival being held at FIT which runs until 26 April. Information at 411 .fit.edu/filmfest.

The President said Wordsworth Day, that-was talked about at the last-meeting-is for our published writers where we can sell our books.


There was a suggestion that we pursue publicity, that there hasn’t been anything in any of the papers lately.

There is a suggestion box at the back of the room for comments.

There was a clarification about sending submissions to Edith Thomas by e-mail and paper copies to Norma Baird.

Bette Kopenhafer, read two poems; Ode to Kickapoo, and the other written by her granddaughter
Maurice Rieff read about the technique of writing which he wrote 45 years ago.
Walt Lathem read about a cursed tapestry.
AngelaDaley read, The Insurance Man
GusVenegas read another chapter from his memoir.
Scott Tilley read, Snow Removal.
