Scribblers Brevard
09 May 2009
Our meeting was called to order at 10:00 by our President, Jean Pastulla. Minutes from our April 25 meeting were read and approved as read.
Treasure’s report by Scott Tilley shows we still have $5980.71 in our treasury. There are still a few deposits to be made
Edith sent email to Jean stating she still needs photos for the Driftwood. Also Fran still needs someone to do the hospitality job while she is on vacation in June and July. Please contact Fran if you are willing to help.
No old business.
New Biz: Tara gave a brief explanation on the Kindle. You can store an entire library on it. It has a dicitionary with it so that if you are reading and are not sure of a word’s definition you can look it up. She also found out you can publish your books to Kindle through Amazon. The Kindle runs about $350.
Bill Allen told us about his new gadget called Netbook which is by Aver. Runs about $350 its very small and compact perfect for writers. Weighs around 2lbs
Julie Lee Dulfer was a impromptu guest speaker. Spoke to us about writing. Said that in her review of stories, books, etc., that most of the errors she sees are puncuation.
We are checking to see if we can get Julie Lee to come back and do a workshop for those of us who work and are not able to get to her workshops through the week. It was left up to the Vice President to set this up. Also to arrange for those who would be interested in having Julie Lee look over a story to sign up.
Due to WordsWorth Day following our meeting, the meeting was adjourned at 11:00.
Respectfully submitted
