Scribblers Brevard

23 May 2009

Our meeting was called to order at 10:00 by our President, Jean Pastulla. Minutes from our May 9th meeting were read and approved as read.

Treasure’s report by Scott Tilley shows we still  have $5980.71 in our treasury.

Art editor, Edith Thomas reports she is waiting on the copies of the stories with the judges final decisions. She has the Driftwood put together and will take out those stories that did not make it in. She is also has received a good number of photos for the Driftwood. Some go well with stories while others do not. She is considering making a special section for photos.

Business manager, David Clark reports we did sell a couple of the Driftwood during WordsWorth day. Also we still have last years Driftwood available for purchase for $5.  He also stated he will be working with Edith once the Driftwood is ready to make sure spelling, punctuation etc is correct.

Nancy will be bringing in the coffee for the next meeting along with some Munchkins from Dunkin Donuts. Angela has offered to bring in some Espresso!

Old Business – WordsWorth Day did not show a lot of public interest. It has been suggested to hold the next one later in the year, when more of our members would be present.

New Business – Scott has started our new website. Currently it is directing those who visit to our old site at Geocities. The new site address is BrevardScribblers.org. This should be used in all correspondence relating to the Scribblers. Nancy and Scott will be working to get the new site up and running. Also the wording for our page for members to sell their works will need to be specifically worded. The board members will get together to decide on this.

Frank Cona is arranging a cruise for New Year’s. It will be leaving out of Port Canaveral. The cruise is for 6 days. If you are interested, see Frank. He also has his book Salt In My Socks for sale. The cost is $10.

Readers for the day were:

Angela Reila – who read more from her family memories. This one was entitled The Saint Joseph’s Day Novena.

Bill Allen – read from his book about Orson Buggy, which has been renamed to  The Bumpy Dayz of Orson Buggy.

Jean Pastula – has started another book called Whispers. Today’s chapter was entitled Amber Tomb.

Gus Venegas – said he will hopefully be finished with his biography soon. Today he read the dedication and forward.

Toni was our last reader. As always she tickled our funny bones with her poetry. She read us Up The River, Kiss, Dog From The Pet Gazette and her finally poem Waiting.

The meeting was adjourned at 1130 with an invitation for lunch at San Remo’s.

Respectfully submitted
