The meeting was being called to order was delayed as the new Driftwood was brought in.  As one of the boxes was quickly opened, our eyes fell quickly upon a colorful cover and 40 copies were snatched up quickly by those members present.

Our president finally called our meeting to order at 10:15.  He asked the secretary to read the minutes of the last meeting. Minutes were read, approved after minor changes were made.

Scott stated our balance remains the same at $5066.71. Although this amount does not include any checks that our still outstanding for payments for the Driftwood.

Old business that need to be discussed included nominations for next years officers. The nomination committee had not come up with any names for the two open positions. We still need to nominate for the position of President and Business Manager.

Nancy said she will remain as secretary, Roberta stated she did not mind remaining as our Vice President and Scott will stay on as our treasurer.

The members present nominated the following persons for President: Jean Pastula, Carolyn Newby and Maurice Reiff. Voting for the office will be done at our next meeting.

Our president said he would take on the duties of Business Manager, as Gus will be traveling most of next year.

The name is Art Studio and Gallery, it is located at 802 E New Haven Ave. It is two doors east of the corner of Waverly Place and New Haven Ave.  Our original book signing was scheduled for the hours of 2:00-4:00.

Kay Williams has two of her CD’s for sale. They are great for stress relief. Titles are Magic Moments and Dream Life. See Kay if you are interested in obtaining either or both of these.

Edith Thomas also has two books available. 100 Things Mother Never Told You also 100 Things Father Never Told You.

Nancy was asked by both Roberta and Jean if she would mind taking charge of finding a place for our January luncheon. Members present were asked if they would like it to be Jack Baker’s again. Everyone seemed to be in agreement that this would be perfect, as all were happy with it the last time we went. Nancy will call and set things up.

Betty said everyone needed to give themselves a hand for all the wonderful stories appearing in this years Driftwood. She said well all did a fine job!

Readers were called by Roberta. Sally reminded all the readers to state their names as a reminder as to who they were.

Our first reader was Marjorie.  A humorous story (even if she did get hurt) called Falling Over Cats. It was about her ordeal while she was feeding her neighbors cats. How she managed to get all tangled up with them and took a fall. They all seemed to be oblivious to the pain she was in.

Mal Occhi, The Power Of The Evil Eye was the name of the story by Angela. Mal Occhi means “evil eyes”. It told of how the second daughter in an Italian family (or at least in hers) was the one who would inherit the “evil eye”. How she did not want it and told her mother to please pass it to her sister instead. But her mother denied her request and it was passed to her. She found out it was actually quite useful when she used it on the Boston Red Sox first baseman Bill Buckner causing him to miss an easy out ball. This error allowed the New York Mets to win the game! She used it several other times to help the outcome of a sporting event. She found the evil eye to be an asset!

Gus gave us another look at Cuba, This time with a section for his biography called Fidel – Youth On a Castro Farm. The farm was a mere 25,000 acres. He gave us information on what Fidel did while he lived on this farm.

David was our last reader and continued on with his story Those Eyes. The story of a robot who was in terrible danger. The robot was relating the story of why he was in so much danger, about the triade. He informed the man who’s house he sought refuge in what he was designed for, the special project that had been programmed into his circuitry.

After his reading  the meeting was adjourned with an invitation to all to join us for lunch at San Remo.

Respectly submitted
