David Clark called his first meeting as president to order at 10:00.

Our treasurer Scott Tilley gave his tresurer’s report. We currently have $5,232 in our account, with $155 still to be deposited and one check still outstanding. Also, the roster is still pending but will be handed out at the next meeting, based on those members who have already paid dues.
There was no old business brought up.
New business was information for the annual Reading Festival to be held on Saturday March 1. The festival will be held at River Front Park in Cocoa from 10:00 to 4:00 PM. Any non profit group can have a table at no cost. We decided to table discussion on this until next meeting when more members would be present. Jim, David, Leila, Janet and Gus have already volunteered to help man the table.
Also brought up was the possibility of having only one meeting in January. This meeting would be the induction of new our second meeting as most seem to attend the Space Coast Writers Guild conference.
A brief discussion on the Space Coast Writers Guild conference being held today was brought up. Gus had been there on Friday and gave a quick overview. There were workgroups about all aspect of getting published. He stated it was more for someone who was already to have their writings published. This was also asked to be brought up at the next meeting when more members would be present.
Roberta Womack, our new Vice President announced readers. Maurice Reiff read two selections one called Sounds of Love and then Lost World Of Jack and Jewel.
Next we heard from Marjorie Selzweld a story called “1952 Democratic Convention” a look at her visit to the convention as child.
Jim Badger read to us a poem he dedicated to his waitress friend Ann entitled God Bless The Waitress. He also read another poem taken from an idea he got while he was shopping at Target called Snuggling Dreams. He also read Banshee’s Cry and The Gift.
Leila recalled for us an experience she had as a waitress back in Little Rock. She was walking through the restaurant asking if anyone wanted any coffee. One gentleman had his hand up and she stopped and gave him some coffee; continuing on to give others coffee as well. She saw the mans hand up. She told him she had just given him some. He said “Yes you did in my onion soup.” She asked if he wanted another bowl of soup. He told her “No just some coffee.”
Next up to read was Roberta Womack. She read us two poems called Dancer and then Keep On Walking Cowboy.
Finally Gus Venegas read to us another excerpt from his story entitled Meeting The Love Of My Life.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:26.
Respectfully submitted
