Questions (FAQ) about Marching Band |
As this school year winds down,
it’s time to start thinking about some opportunities you have as you
enter high school. One of these opportunities is Marching
Band. The BRHS has a reputation for having one of the best
marching bands in the area. We are very excited about the upcoming
marching season, and can’t wait for you to be a part of it. Hopefully,
the information below will answer any questions you have. When is the marching band season? When do we practice? • Marching season is as long as the football season, which is about 9 weeks. • It begins at marching camp Aug. 9-13. • During the marching season, marching band will be your band class. (so we rehearse every day) • We also have rehearsal every Wednesday evening from 7-9pm. When does the marching band perform? • We perform at all home football games (Friday nights 6-10) • We also march in the BRHS homecoming parade and the FSU homecoming parade. • We perform at marching band festival, towards the end of the season • We will have one final indoor concert, with awards. • We also march in the Memorial Day Parade. Can I play a fall sport? • Yes! • We work around sports schedules • (The Drum Major even plays a fall sport) • We have had varsity football players march as well Can I decide later? • No. We need you to decide by the end of the school year. • Once you have initialed our sheet you are committed to march. • We plan our show drill early, so it is imperative we have the exact numbers we planned for. Why should I march? • The majority of band students march • It is a great way to get to know a great group of high schoolers • You get a full P.E. credit if you march 4 years • It is a lot of fun, and a great musical experience!!!
