CHARACTER-SPECIFIC CHALLENGES
INDIVIDUALS
SPIKE
Imagine, for a moment, that our dear William the
Bloody had been a Watcher-in-Training as a human. What was he like? How
did it come to pass that Angelus/Drusilla turned him? Did he know any Gileses,
Wyndham-Pryces, or Traverses?
Based on something said at the Buffy Cross and Stake Spoiler
Board about "the look on her face when Spike realized he had regrown his
soul": Spike slowly regains his soul while falling in love with Willow.
James Marsters: "I've found something scarier than mutton
chops!"
Halloween 2000: Spike turns human for the night
- only he morphs physically into the person he was (physical appearance)
but retains all his memories and acts the same as usual. Show everyone's
reactions, particularly that of the girls. Do they laugh or love?
LJ's William the Bloody
Challenge:
Here beginneth the "William the Bloody Challenge":
*Using whatever means necessary, hook up William/Spike
and Willow. This can involve time-travel (bringing William to the present
or sending Willow into the past), or Spike turning back into William as
stated in the original challenge, or Spike getting his soul restored, or
however else you want to do it. But Willow has to learn about "Weenie"
William. Whatever is found out about William has to be reasonably based
on what we learned in "Fool for Love" - so it's semi-canon.
*She has to see what he looked like back then.
*She has to read at least one of his "bloody-awful"
poems.
*The word "effulgent" has to be used at least
once. I really like that word!
*If you bring William into the present (*which
I'd really really like to see*), he and Spike have to meet (I keep picturing
the two Xanders from "The Replacement"), and the Scooby Gang has to meet
him, too.
*Give Spike/William a last name! And mention
his mother! ("Uh...er...Mother's expecting me....")
*Any rating, any additional pairings (for example,
get Angel to come to Sunnydale to help out with the
situation, and he and Buffy somehow get back
together or something like that). But if you want it to be
*physically* archived at our site (which we'd
really really like) it can't be much worse than TV-14/the
show. We will make *outside links* to stories
answering the challenge that have other, more extreme
ratings.
Here endeth the Challenge.

19. LJ's Shared Soul Challenge:
According to the theory of reincarnation, once
a person dies, the soul leaves the body and is born again into another
body. Suppose that the soul Angel now has is indeed the soul he had as
a human (opposed to some other soul plucked out of the aether).
Now suppose that one of the lives that soul lived was that of the man who
later became William the Bloody a.k.a. Spike. Not a problem yet because
the individual we all know and love as Spike has no soul. Now suppose that
Spike was indeed to have his soul restored due to a curse, a mangled spell,
whatever. What would happen? Would the soul ping-pong between the two vampires?
Would Spike be souled and Angel once again Angelus? Other possibilities?
Possibilities:
* Can Spike (with soul) remember anything from the soul's time as Angel
or Liam? If so, does this memory need to be triggered via hypnotisis or
is it open to his mind?
Required:
* Cordelia, Wesley, and Kate, must make appearances.
* Takes place in Season 4 or 5.
* Some mention of Spike's life as a human must be made - minimum of
five new facts about Spike.
* Minimum of one individual from either BTVS or ATS is the reincarnation
of someone in either William (Spike) or Liam's (Angel) human life.

GILES
2. Bri Harper’s Amnesia #1 Challenge:
Thinking back on all of the times that Giles has been hit on the head,
has been unconscious, and has been in the
emergency room at Sunnydale General Hospital, it’s surprising that
he hasn’t suffered brain damage or amnesia. Write a
story in which Giles has amnesia after being knocked unconscious -
he hasn’t any memory of the people around him, of
the Watchers’ Council, of the Band Candy incident, of Jenny Calendar,
of Angel/Angelus, or of any other event or person
in his life. His memory is completely blank concerning personal memories
- he can still talk, walk, read, write, and so on,
but he doesn’t know that magic really works, and that vampires are
real. What happens to Giles because of his amnesia?
How does he learn about all the things that go bump in the night? Does
he make a sudden realization about his relationship
with one of the other characters, now that all the built-up barriers
are gone? This can take place in any season and also in
the future.
RILEY
12. Bri Harper’s Conversations #2 Challenge:
Riley’s such a down-to-earth country-boy that I can’t imagine him not
wanting to meet Buffy’s mom. (Okay, he might not
really want to, but y’know, saving face and being polite and gentlemanly,
and so on…) Of course Joyce will ask Riley all
sorts of questions, so you’ll get to give Riley some history. Don’t
forget to have Joyce mention to Riley that "he’s better
than the last one" [Angel]. If you want, make Riley inquisitive and
let Joyce talk about Angel, including the whole vampire
thing. Bonus points for Joyce talking about "poor Spike, whose girlfriend
[Drusilla] left him". Extra bonus points if Riley
says something about Spike being a Hostile, which just might upset
Joyce a tad since she likes him so much.

ANY CHARACTER/GROUPS
3. Bri Harper’s Amnesia #2 Challenge:
Using any character, write a story about that character having amnesia
as outlined with Giles in Bri Harper’s Amnesia
#1 Challenge. It can be any character of consequence, set in
any season or in the future.
4. Bri Harper’s Amnesia #3 Challenge:
After watching a particular Star Trek: The Next Generation episode
the other day, I wondered what would happen if
the same situation came about in Sunnydale: everyone within Sunnydale
city limits has amnesia, humans and demons alike. How would people act
differently to one another? How would friendships and romantic relationships
change? Who would bring out their feelings (positive or negative) about
a particular other person and how would that change their relationship?
This could take place in any season or in the future.
An additional idea: This could take place during "Hush"; instead of
losing their voices, every one loses their memories, or
they lose both their voices and their memories.
18. LJ’s "Boy Talk" Challenge:
Sometime in mid-Season 4, Xander, Spike, and Riley suddenly find themselves
alone in Giles’s apartment or Xander’s
basement. What do they talk about? (Or, rather, Xander and Riley, plus
Spike’s commentary.) Bonus points if Spike
somehow unwittingly opens up and carries a normal conversation with
them, only to realize later what he’s just done. This
should be a clean, humorous male bonding event.
