One Saturday afternoon while watching a collection of "Laurel and Hardy" shorts on AMC, I began to recognize similarities between my marriage and the relationship Stan and Ollie shared on screen. Whoa!
And what's more unnerving is that I realized my wife was straight man Oliver while I was fallguy Stanley. Jeez!
Well, yeah, Stan's my favorite, too. But he sure tended to get pushed and smacked around a lot. I could identify.
"Slapstick Situation Blues" is bouncy broad action. (In my mind, even the Keystone Kops make a cameo appearance in the third verse.)
My goal was a short, lively, monochromatic visualization in broad strokes. But I hope it doesn't seem that I've rendered my characters in black and white only.
