In Loving Memory of my Dad
My dad lost a long and brave battle with prostate cancer
on June 29th 1999.
His cheerfulness and determination in the face of suffering is an
example to everyone of how life should be lived.
The Australian expressions "a good bloke" and "do
anything for you" which are so often used, applied to my dad in a
very real way. He was always ready to help anyone who needed a hand.

My dad was a man of many facets. He was a carpenter who
loved working with his hands outdoors. He was a lover of sport such
as cricket and tennis and an avid supporter of the Aussie cricket
team and the Saints football club. He was a marvellous actor, and an
extrememly talented director of amateur theatre, for which he also
built outstanding sets.
He was a man of great integrity and honesty, who was
always kind and cheerful when dealing with others.
1960
My dad was a very intelligent man, and although only
educated to a low standard, he had a sweeping knowledge of politics,
history and current affairs to rival most.
1943
He was a terrific grandfather to my three children, who
adored him. They loved walks in the garden with him, learning to make
scones (they asked to make scones the day he died), being pushed
around the garden in the home made "truck", and lots of other good
things kids can do with their grandpa.
1985
My dad had an acute appreciation of nature and the
environment. Even in his last months where most in his situation
would not have bothered getting out of bed, he made the difficult car
journey to the ocean to watch the sun set at Cottlesloe Beach. He
loved birdwatching and would always carry his field guide. He loved
the Australian bush.
The song playing is Mariah Carey's "One sweet day"
One Sweet Day
...And I know you're shining down on me from
heaven,
Like so many friends we've lost along the way,
And I know eventually we'll be together...
One sweet day.
