It was the same old story. After an Actress had a great success, she was caught without a suitable follow-up film waiting. Miss Standwyck had a great success in "Forbidden " and had to follow up with"Shopworn" and now with a great movie like "Stella Dallas" she followed up with a sophisticated comedy of the sort popular in the thirties, opposite Herbert Marshall and in a not very demanding role. . |

After having been put in suspension for refusing several scripts she deemed unsuitable for her , Miss Stanwyck, accepted to appear in another film with Herbert Marshall. |
A remake of "Gallant lady" another story of mother love and sacrifice, but only a poor man's version of S"Stella Dallas". The film was well received and she got, as usual, good reviews. Having fulfilled her responsabilities at Fox, Barbara next set out to do the same with RKO. Happily , the film at hand was somewhat more appealing. |

Barbara worked well with Marshall and the critics and public were pleased. Stanwyck said in an interview that she couldn't have followed 'Stella Dallas" with another emotional role and that the comedy was really like a vacation. |
