Hello! So, you've found your way to BALL STREET on the web!!!! Welcome to BALL HALL!!!! We're thrilled to have you visit, and thanks for stopping by! Within our MANY pages, we hope to introduce you to our family, and give you a taste of the beauty of our homelife. On page two, you will be able to visit our "family" pages...but for now, let me introduce myself!

My name is Brenda (Brynn) Ball. I hail from Southwest VA. I'm a "country girl" at heart, and it is reflected in everything I do. I'm most at home in blue jeans and tee-shirts, but I can go from jeans to sequins in the blink of an eye. While I spent the early years of my life in Buckroe Beach, Virginia, my father brought us back to the mountains in 1967...and I can never thank him enough for realizing the need for us to find "southern roots".

My mind tells me I'm only eighteen...I just wish my body would adopt that philosophy! In reality, I am heading for the "BIG FIFTY-FIVE" on December 11, 2009. To get to know me a bit further, I have additional information listed in the "Get To Know Me" Section on Page Two. Also, on Page Two, you will find a list of "My Favorite Things"...which will give you a better picture of who I am and the things that make me happy. My husband swears I'm "high maintenance" BUT I keep telling him I'm worth every penny!!!! Evidently, he believes me, for we've been together twenty + years.

As you will see on my website, poetry is almost equated to my soul; however, first and foremost, family is my priority.

I do not think anyone could have been more richly blessed in life than I have been. I consider myself one of the most fortunate people on earth. I am married to Clarence "Butch" Ball, who is/was/and will always be my soulmate! When I met Butch, I felt that I had finally "come home". Our life has been a "fairy tale" romance, and I still find myself in a state of unbelief that I have such a wonderful man in my life. There are no "perfect adjectives" to describe Butch, for he is an unbelievable husband and friend. If I ever train him to stop leaving his clothes on the floor, he'll be the epitome of a "well-trained husband"...smile. Hey...he's a man...so I adapt...LOL!!!

Ours is a "blended family", and we are proud of our accomplishments. Both Butch and I were married previously, but we have put a concerted effort into making our life "the best it can be"...and we've succeeded!!!

Our four children are my life....they, in their individual ways, have given me more pleasure than I could ever describe in words. More about them:

We have four teriffic children: Marc, Autumn, Matthew & Ethan. We are grandparents to two beautiful little girls...one named Llylianna, who is the daughter of our daughter, Autumn, and Lilly Anne, who is the daugter of our son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Allison. Now what are the chances of that happening in a life time? Llyli "One" is ten, and Lilly "Two" is seven. They are both beautiful little blondes with lots of energy! If only we could bottle and sell their energy, we'd be millionaires!!!

We have a very diversified family! I work for KVAT (the FOOD CITY main offices) in Abingdon, Virginia. I work in the Accounting Department...and LOVE it! I am enjoying utilizing my skills, and it truly helps when one likes their job! It makes life alot easier when one has a supervisor they both like and respect...and my boss, Shane Harris, is just that!!! We work hard, but he makes our job enjoyable...SO, I actually look forward to going to work. How many people can say that????

It wouldn't be WORK without the little tricks we play on our co-worker Debbie. Deb is our "sweetheart" and we only play jokes on her because we love her to death!!!! She's pretty amazing! We call her our doctor, analyst, psychologist, nurse, mom, sister, and JILL OF ALL TRADES! We've stolen her mouse ball, unhooked her phone, unhooked her keyboard from the computer, rearranged her desk, changed her key functions on her computer, changed the keys on her calculator....you name it, we've done it!!!! Hey, who says you can't have FUN and WORK TOO!!!!!

My wonderful husband is a former Supervisor for District 1 of Russell County. Butch was a state mine inspector, and retired April 30, 2006..but he will NEVER really retire. With the 110 acre farm to tend, he never runs out of things to do. Also, we've been making renovations to the house...(he's a great handy-man) and is now planning winter projects...renovating the basement (we're turning it into an extra living quarters). We just finished the walk-in closets in the basement...and now we're heading toward creating a bathroom, family room, and extra kitchen. That just means an extra floor to clean!!!! We are also building on our property in Beech Moutain, North Carolina, and making renovations to our Homosassa Springs, FL property. In addition, we are buying property in Buckroe Beach, Virginia...SO...retirement??? What's THAT?

Quickly, we are becoming "empty nesters"! Our oldest son, Marc, is married to the former Monica Osborne of Dungannon, VA. Marc graduated from the U.S. Marshal's Training Center in Glynco, GA, on the 28th of January, 2004. Please check the Sitemap page for photos of his graduation. Marc previously served as a Deputy Marshal for the Superior Court in Washington, D.C., and then went on to be a trainer at the Marshal's facility in Glynco, GA. He is now a US Marshal for the Smokey Mountain District of Tennessee. He and his beautiful Monica live in Greenville, TN, where Marc has been permanently appointed. They recently purchased a new home in Greeneville, and it is beautiful. Butch, Ethan, Margaret, Phil, Luke and I helped them to move in. They come back to visit on the weekends, so it is so much better than having them so far away!

Marc graduated from University of Virginia at Wise, and has served in the U.S. Marines and National Guard. We are so proud of his accomplishments and his choices in life. Most especially, we are proud of his choice in a wife. Our precious Monica is the epitome of "the perfect daughter-in-law". She stole our hearts long ago, and we welcomed her as an official member of our family when they exchanged vows on July 1, 2006. It was a fairy tale wedding that we will remember always. Please check the links on the Site Map to be taken to Marc and Monica's wedding pages. We have some beautiful snapshots and are sure you will enjoy them.

We are just as proud of our other children. Our Matthew is married to former Allison Drew Feigley, and they have a six-year old daughter, Lilly Anne. Allison and Matthew were married on October 7, 2004. To view more about the wedding, please visit their page from my site map. Matthew was the first-married of the boys--and his Allison is a beautiful addition to our family. She and Lily fit right in. Matthew has recently taken the position of Youth Minister for Lebanon Community Fellowship Church. We are VERY proud of his choice of careers. Allison works for "The White Elephant" in Lebanon. They bought a home in Lebanon two years ago.

Autumn lives in Johnson City, Tennessee. She is an Art major at East Tennessee State University, finishing up her BFA. She has a beautiful daughter, Llylianna. Autumn is the artist in the family--several of her pictures grace our home. The most famous (and precious one) is the one she painted for Butch in 1999. He had brought home a sketch of an underground mining scene, and made an "off the cuff" comment that he would love to have an oil painting of the sketch for his den. Aut "snitched" the picture, and on Father's Day, presented the oil painting to him. It is gorgeous, and holds a special place in our hearts and in our home. Another priceless painting we have is one she did of our granddaughter, Llylianna, in our back yard. She presented that to us for Christmas and it is breathtaking!

Our youngest son, Clarence Ethan is an tenth grader at Castlewood High School. He is such a good child, and never gives us a minute's trouble...EXCEPT when it comes to cleaning his room. If he would put as much effort into cleaning it as he does MESSING IT UP, I'd have it made!!! Evidently, it is a "Ball Gene" for Marc is the ONLY tidy one of the GUYS. Other than that, Ethan is a parent's "dream child". He respects us and never fails to say "I love you" to us at least once a day. Ethan spent seven weeks in Richmond, Virginia, in the latter part of 2007 as a Senate Page. I have to say, this is the most tremendous program the state offers to students--and more people from Southwest Virginia need to research this opportunity for their children and submit their names as candidates. Our son came back to us as a "young man"...responsible, mature, courteous and polite -- and more knowledgeable of State government than we could have ever imagined. Ethan was also a part of the National Junior Leadership Program in 2006--where he spent two weeks studying Crime Scene Investigation at Georgetown University. He has also been offered the opportunity to study abroad in Italy or France in 2009 through the NJLA. We are VERY PROUD OF HIM!

Our oldest granddaughter, Llylianna is going into the fifth grade. She has aspirations of "becoming a princess". Needless to say, in our eyes, she ALREADY is!!!! When Butch retired, Llylianna is the one that told him, "Papaw, now that you're retarded you can go to work as a greeter at Waltmart!" To this day, Butch tells everyone about this and gets the biggest kick out of it.

Our other granddaughter, Lilly, is adorable and fits right into our family. It's like she's always been here. She calls us Granna and Papaw...and loves to come up and spend time with us and "Bubby" (Ethan). Little Lilly loves to draw pictures of our family, and we have many on our refrigerator. She's quite an artist for a six year old. Aren't grandchidren adorable?????

Both of the granddaughters think their "BUBBY" is the greatest thing since the invention of peanut butter, and I don't know how he puts up with all the attention they give him when they come to visit. He doesn't have a moment to himself...and they are constantly wanting every moment of his time. Still, Ethan takes it in stride -- and says he is glad that he has two nieces that love him so much. We'll see how long that holds out when he starts dating and they want to tag along (Smile).

In addition to our "blood" family, we've acquired an adopted daughter in Mia Gomes, from Richmond, Virginia...and her beautiful daughter, C.C. Holmes, who is our adopted granddaughter. They are precious to us, and we love them so very dearly. Mia, Butch and I met five years ago in Richmond (when she was working under Governor Mark Warner's administration). We hit it off from the start...throughout the years, our friendship has deepened, and we have become more than friends...we have become family. Mia and I swear that somewhere down the line there is a blood connection...for we are the "carbon copies" of each other. She is a TRUE ray of sunshine in our lives. We are proud of Mia's accomplishments and also see a budding "Mia" in her daughter, C.C.. Ethan and C.C. are "two of a kind". Words cannot begin to express what a beautiful addition they have made to our lives. We just added a new daughter and granddaughter when Mia and C.C. came along...they are as much a family as if they were blood relations!

No one could have "custom ordered" a family that blends as well as our family has over the past years. We are so fortunate to have children that love coming home--and love being with each other. They are teriffic kids that have never given us any trouble...for this we are eternally proud and grateful.
