Mataguay Summer Camp

Summer camp is a fun, week long activity. I encourage everyone who has not been to camp, to go. It is located up near Lake Henshaw. It is called Mataguay Scout Reservation. Hiking, Fishing, races, water fights, and archery/target shooring are only part of the vast activities available in this great place. It is a chance to earn extra and required merit badges. At "Spectres" Eagle Camp, you can earn your palms and eagle badges. 1st year scouts go to a program called pathfinders. Here you can earn Swimming and Fingerprinting Merit Badge. Overall it was really a lot of fun. -Ted Have you even been to a place in your life that it was so wonderful that you did not want to leave. MSR is a place where I have gone to for the past three years and every year I grow more and more closer to it. Whether it be the friendly staff, the clear environment, or the warm summer days, MSR is a place that makes me feel good. The camp wakes up on their cool crisp cots every morning excited about what they will learn next. Some might be wondering what will be for breakfast and some might even be wondering if they have the strength to roll out of bed. But either way, kids are waking up to wonder and excitement. By time Saturday comes, kids finally realize they are leaving, and not coming back to a long time. But at the same time excited about going home. -Ryan

"Media Blitz!"

Because of its concern for drug awareness, the BSA has chosen to run "Media Blitz!"

Created by Marvel Comics and the White Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), Media Blitz! helps young people understand the the drug-related messages in movies, television and print media are different from the realities of their everyday lives.

The cartoon follows the influence of a rock star's image on a young newspaper intern working with Peter Parker, the amazing spider man.

The message (that drug-related images may seem cool) will take several months to be competed. Following the second of the four part Marvel superhero series; other installments will appear in the January and March issues of Boys Life.

"A Scoutmaster, a wife and a cow."

This scoutmaster and his wife were driving along a rural highway, when they found the road blocked by a herd of cows that had escaped through a broken fence. The scoutmaster tried honking his horn to scare the cattle from the pavement, but to no avail. For some reason, no sound was heard. He got out of his car, lifted the hood, and saw the problem, a loose wire, which he quickly fixed. As he got back into the car, his wife asked him if he'd had any luck. "Yep!" he replied...
