Troop 496 was chartered in 1955. The troop first held its meetings in the Hookstown Presbyterian Church. We stayed at this meeting site until the church's membership was dwindling. After the church folded, we moved to another meeting location.

It has been a challenge to me to get Troop 496 History from the past, that is why the biggest chunck of my job is to keep the history of present day. This includes newsletters, calendars, Eagle Ceremonies, newspaper articles, graces said at ceremonies, and other documents.
