Trip to Washington D.C.
In July, 2000, Troop 237 took a trip to Washington D.C. We were lucky enough to be able to stay at a local army base, Fort Belvoir. We pitched our tents and made camp there. However, we did not get to spend much time at the campsite! We saw most of the historical landmarks and museums in Washington D.C. These include the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, the Jefferson Memorial, the Vietnam War Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, the Marine Memorial, Arlington National Cemetary, the Capitol, the White House, the National Archives, the National Cathedral, all of the Smithsonian Museums, and much of downtown Washington, D.C. In addition to that , because we were there on the fourth of July, we were able to see the fireworks at the mall. There were over half a million people present that night.
