1/24 Nationals 2004 < 2004 BOC Round 1 Raceway UK / Wildfields Race Report < 2004 BOC Round 2 Pinewood Race Report The 1/24 Nationals was held for the first time on BSCRA's UK 8 track. The Enderby Leasure center near Leicester proved to be an excellent venue, with very good facilities and such generous space. It was great to see a large entry and such an enjoyable week end's racing. A lot of hard work had gone into making it all happen - a particularly big thank you to Andy Smith, not forgetting the other members of the new Leicester club. Thank you to all the other people who made the meeting a great success, like all the people who took turns on race control, all the competitors who helped move the track and great thanks to our friends at the Quorn club for the track storage. | |

Saturday's event started with Brian Galpin winning best presented body with this BPA Mercedes ahead of a colourful field of very well painted bodies (above). There a lot of close racing,
particularly in the A final where top qualifier Lee Parsons traded
the lead with Paul Shepherd and Brian
Saunders. Lee won from Paul with Chairman Brian third - 1.1
laps covering the first 3 after 240 laps racing. |

Dave Lees (above right) won best presented body with this BPA Bentley. Here he is receiving the trophy from BSCRA chairman (and the eventual winner of the race) Brian Saunders. The racing was arranged in groups of 9. Here's some of the competitors. The D final includes Mike Gibbons, Steve Sargent, Dave Mayo, Ben Woodward, Dave Lees, Casimir, Sandy Parker and Andy Brown Searle. Andy won this one by 6 laps from Dave M. Next the C final lineup Dave Coward, David Austin, Chris Stemman, Alan Callaghan, John Hyde, Martin Ellis, Mike Harrison and Mario. This was a close race with Martin winning from Alan and Mario, these 3 being covered by less than 2 laps for 11 -12 - 13 overall. A finalists Dubbs, Pat Skene, Paul Shepherd, George Kimber, Lee Parsons, Brian Galpin and Richard Mack just before the start with Will Stemman marshalling. Charlie Gooding set a cracking pace in the B final, and the only man to beat it in the A was Brian Saunders, with a winning margin of nearly 4 laps. Paul Shepherd took third a lap and a half behind Charlie. Below - Brian's winning BSP chassis - unusually with a Camen can.. |
