KEVIN
Kevin Tyree Dyson was born the eldest of four children to Steven Dyson and  Susan Hall on June 23,1975 in Clearfield Utah, 30 miles north of Salt Lake City.  Kevin has always been a father figure to his younger siblings, Patrick, Andre and Stephanie. When Kevin was nine he would run home from school during lunch to make sure Andre who was in Kindergarten was up and dressed for school. "Kevin has always been protective of all three of them" says his mother." Sometimes I had to remind him to be a kid when he was growing up.

Kevin was a small shy skinny kid  his junior year in  high  school and didn't know if he really wanted to play football or not. In '92 while Kevin was a senior  they won the state title.  Kevin played receiver, defensive back, return man and tight end. He averaged 31 yds. a catch. He was all-state selection as defensive back  and lined up at flanker.  Did you   know that he was all-state in basketball as well?
Washington State wanted him and Arizona State really wanted him but he chose Utah so his mother could watch him play.
Kevin was a three year starter  and two-time All-Western Athletic Conference  selection at Utah. He was  MVP at the Senior Bowl.    Kevin holds the school record at Utah with 192 career catches and ranking second on the Utes'career receiving list with 2,726 yds..  He had 18 career receiving TD's, fourth all time at Utah .  Kevin also made 95 yds.on six catches in the '96 CopperBowl.  Kevin is probably best known for the "CATCH" -a fourth down 5yd. touchdown pass to lift Utah to a 16-13 win over Arizona in the Freedom Bowl. He was redshirted in '93. Kevin majored in sociology and environmental behavior.
Kevin was drafted in '98 in the first round 16th overall by the Tennessee  Oilers.   In '98 he played  in 13 games. In '99 he started in 16 games, all 4 playoff games and in '01 started in all 16 games. Dyson enjoyed his finest season in the NFL in '01, setting career- highs  in both receiving  yds. and TD's while tying is '99 mark for receptions.  Kevin produced career highs of 825 receiving yds and seven TD'swith the Titans in '01. Recorded single-game best of nine receptions162 receiving yds. and 2 TD's during the Cincinnati game 09-12-99 (36-35.)

Kevin, along with his brother Andre  became the first brother tandem in NFL history to each score a TD for the same team in the same game when he caught a TD pass and Andre returned an interception during the Cleveland game (28-31) Sept. 22,02.  During the Pittsburgh  game on Nov.17th '02 Kevin had one of his best games of the season.  He had 8 catches 87 yds. and 2 TD's  (31-23)    Unfortunately Kevin's season came to another sad end  during the Baltimore game  Nov.24th when during the 4th quarter  he stopped and leaped back for a 40-yd. pass from McNair  and severely injured his hamstring. (12-13)

In 2001 The Tennesse Titans named Kevin Dyson the team representative of the Ed Block Courage award , an honor given to the player on each NFL team who best symoblizes professionalism, great strength, dedication.and community service.  "The staff here  has never seen anything  quite like this before" said Titans head trainer Brad Brown  after Kevin's miraculous comeback from a season ending knee injury in 2000.  "It means a lot," Dyson said upon learning that his teammates overwhelmingly voted him as the team's most courageous competitor. " After you come off something lke that, you can never say you're the same type of person or player you were before you got hurt.  I'm not saying if I'm slower or faster, but I do know that I'm just happy to be able to play again and do the things I'm doing."

After recuperating from knee surgery in 2000 Kevin learned to appreciate the little things in life like taking a shower, walking, getting out of bed, practicing with teammates and enjoying the competition of playing football on Sundays.

During the off season Kevin and his brother Andre conducts Pro Skills Camp for youth football players in Salt Lake City. Kevin considers himself   a roller coaster enthusiast and his favorite ride is "The Incredible Hulk" coaster at Universal Islands of Adventure .  He also likes to play baskeball, shoot pool, catch movies and spends time with his family

Kevin  married   LaRosa  July 6, '02.  He has two daughers, Deyja born 10/11/95  and Lundyn..

Kevin will always be remembered  for the MCM as the man who caught a 30 yd sideways lateral  from Frank Wycheck and with nothing but 75 yds. of  green grass and a few of his teammamtes serving as escorts in front of him he pranced all the way to the endzone , crossing the goal line with three seconds to go during the first ever playoff  game  between the Bills and the Titans(22-16)  at Adlephia (Jan.8th 2000).    He will also be remembered for taking a 40 yd. shotgun pass from McNair during SuperBowl XXXIV  ( Jan. 30th.2000)  and sprawling toward the endzone  only to be stopped at the one yd. line as time ran out (16-23).

On March 19 '03  Kevin was  acquired by the Carolina Panthers through free agency with a one  year contract, having played  5 years with the Titans.

The Panthers could use Dyson to bolster their receiving  corps.

Dyson suffered another setback in his NFL career when he tore his left Achilles tendon during a supervised  workout session June 4,'03.
