In addition to these human deities, the gods of the various demi-human races are venerated throughout the Flanaese. Only very rarely do humans worship non-human gods and usually those that do are considered witches (see character class for details). Likewise, many of the demons, devils, slaadi, elemental rulers and animal generals also have a scattering of human worshippers, all of which classified as witches. Some of the more common and/or noteworthy witch-deities include: Bahamut the Platinum Dragon (Rhanée StrongArm & Moorak Drake), Garuda (Kinsa Closelimb/Christina Devinshire), the Furies (Reilia the Witch), Gaia the Earth Mother and Selm the Lord of Possessors (Navroc MacCorval).
The All-father and creator figure, Angellus very closely resembles the classical image of the Christian god. Angellus' clergy wages war against evil of all sorts and he may send his Air-Maidens or Devas to protect a worshipper battling extra-planar evils. He is one of the ancient gods from before the time of chaos (one of the reasons he is worshipped under so many guises), father of Phaulkon and Lovitar, Heironius and Hextor. Angellus is very widely worshipped especially in Furyondi and Veluna. He is a very good choice for Paladins and warrior clerics (who's device is a white cross or a flaming sword) as well as for healing priests (who's device is a red cross)
Ulla is not the classic Earth-Mother figure, but rather the patron goddess of miners, hillmen and mountaineers. She is more of an Aunt figure, like the Greek Hestia. Like Angellus, Ulla is one of the ancient gods, predating all known civilizations. Ulla is commonly venerated by the common laborers and simple, rustic people. She is a staunch defender of her worshippers against more "earthy" foes, such as trolls and giantkind.
Good-natured patron of seas and lakes, Ahto's worshippers revere their deity far more than those of other sea-gods. Ahto tends not to prone to the fickleness and caprices that the other Water Powers are. Ahto's clergy devote much of their energies toward the betterment of worshippers instead of placating their god's moody humors. It should be noted also, that Ahto's sphere includes both seas and lakes, fresh and salt-water.
The Cult of Pyrrhea is shrouded in mystery. The goddess herself is a symbol of rebirth and continual renewal through fire. Her cult reloves around the veneration of fire and of rebirth, especially through mysterious processes. There are no great temples to this goddess who is often worshipped in hidden underground lairs by arcane rituals. Her role is that of guardian of the old and protagonist of change, even in destruction. The Cult of Pyrrhea was nearly obliterated several hundred years ago, but like the goddess herself, has renewed itself, albeit surreptitiously.
Throughout Oerik Kord the Brawler is worshipped as the champion of contests and struggles. His faith is found almost everywhere there are sports or tests of physical prowess (in other words, everywhere!). Kord is usually depicted as a brawny man with a beard. Kord's clerics are expected to follow his example, being both competetive and very physical. If ESPN had a patron deity, it would be Kord.
Want to hear more about the gods and their interactions? Well, then, I've another page under constuction for you. Until then, why don't you read Why Orcs Don't Live in the Forest? This fable was written by a long-time and talented player. Whether true or not, it is a favorite tale for parties that contain blowhard lawful clerics that think they can just merely be awful good and have people think they're cool.
