Cars
I have 2 cars. These are the only 2 cars I have EVER owned. The first car I bought was the 1988 HSV Holden VL Commodore SS Group A - or "Walkinshaw" for short, after Tom Walkinshaw, the man behind it's development. I call mine "Wal". I saw mine on August the 27th, 1992, and put a deposit on it. I paid the balance on August the 29th, 1992, and drove her home. They weren't fetching much at the time, due to the outrageous aesthetics - most people considered them ugly and impractical. I could see beauty where other people couldn't.
This was the first model produced by Holden Special Vehicles after the Peter Brock split. A total of 750 were made, mine is number #263. I had the glove box signed by Tom Walkinshaw at Eastern Creek in 1994. They have the first fuel-injected 5 litre V8 Holden engines produced, with a 5 speed manual transmission. As for the body kit, just check out the photo! It sits only 4 inches (10cm) off the road!
Here is my other car - a 1980 Holden VC HDT Commodore - otherwise known as a "Brock Special". I call it "the Blackfulla". I bought it for $7500 on March the 20th, 1994. And , fair dinkum, was it in need of a helluva lot of TLC!!! See for this story.
The original owner bought this vehicle from Reg Hunt Holden in Melbourne and had it shipped to Tasmania, where it spent most of it's rough life.
I undertook a fairly complete restoration to bring it up to the standard you see in the photos.
This was the first model produced by Brock's Holden Dealer Team operation. It is build number #416 of 500 made, and is a genuine and rare black vehicle with 4 speed manual transmission. Engine is a carburettor fed 5 litre V8. Nowhere near as nice to drive as the Walkinshaw, but it has it's own character, and I couldn't choose one over the other! And, yes, the glove box is signed by Brockie!
