Meditation

Author's Comments

The writing of Meditation began as a practice page
for me to learn HTML.

The idea for the story came from a book entitiled:
"Guided Imagery For Self Healing" by Martin L. Rossman, M.D.

But the story is also written from personal experience.

The idea of a stairway, the descent and coming to a place
of inner peace was supplied by the book.
The imagery itself was supplied by me...
my own personal place of peace.

The place and time when I was with
my forever friend...
The wild cottontail we named "Shoo-Fly".

Why was this time so special?
I don't think I will ever fully know...
at least not in this life time.

Was it the uniqueness of the friendship?
The quiet time spent with my friend?
Was it in learning a
completely different set of values?
Learning that what I had thought
to be so valuable
(things, things, things)
really wasn't?

Was it in learning that something of true value
was not something I could work for, obtain or give myself?

That the things I thought were so important really weren't?

The time spent with my forever cottontail friend
although only a short time...
one year...
changed my life completely...
putting a whole new perspective on things.

It is this time I need to go back to...often.

Not only because I miss him and love him...
but because I need the wisdom I had when with him.

I would like to urge all those
who have lost a loved one
to try this form of meditation.
Take a few minutes out of the day
and go back and visit with them.
Even if only with your mind.

Tell them you love them and
tell them how much you miss them.
Tell them your hopes...
Tell them your fears.
Share with them your joys
and disappointments.
Then rise, knowing that you
can see them
and visit with them every day.

They are not gone.
They are only a memory away.

"I held you in my arms then
if only with my mind.
I saw you again today my love
and was with you one more time."
