An Introduction
In the framework of this project the warehouse management system, which is being used in VESCO Company, was researched. The purposes of this research were the following: derivation of functional dependencies between parameters (number of clients, hardware characteristics, etc.), response time determination, maximal number of clients determination, any potential bottlenecks, and search for system optimization ways/options determination.
Special mathematical model was used for this research, realized in CASE tool "Decision support system (DSS) on distributed systems design and development", which was developed by Dr. Ury Grygoriev in Moscow State Technical University named after Bauman. By means of this model, research results were received, optimization ways were designed, and then they were applied to the warehouse management system.
Also, a software utility that helps to fill in TPC-C test results was developed. The TPC-C test results (Transaction Processing Council test "C" for OLTP systems) are used in "Decision support system (DSS) on distributed systems design and development". Application was developed on Centura Team Developer (Centura Software corp.) as a front-end part in client-server architecture. Back-end part is Personal ORACLE 7.1 for Windows 9x DBMS.
