Preservation news

Dyson’s Bus Service has finished the restoration of a Bedford SB with Comair body.   The vehicle was unveiled at the launch of a book celebrating the 50th year of the company’s existence on Friday, 27th September.   They have plans to restore a Newnham bodied Hancock which they have owned from new and an Ansett Transett.

Croydon Bus Service has started the restoration of a Denning bodied Leyland Leopard.   This will join the other three preserved vehicles in promoting this company.

U S Bus Service has acquired for preservation a Bedford OB with Ansair body.

Owners of vehicles on Club Permit red plates are urged to make sure that their permit fees are paid.   Vicroads have been tardy in sending out renewals for these permits and as no windscreen labels are issued owners have been unaware that the fees have not been paid.   This has resulted in several people being fined for using an unregistered vehicle.   If in doubt go to your local Vicroads office.   They can check it on the computer.

Historical Research

The group is currently researching several projects including Ventura Motors, Adams and Williams of Mount Evelyn and a farewell to Frankston Passenger Service.   If you have any information or photographs which we can use please contact the President.   We are particularly keen to talk to any employee of these companies to round out the articles.   We also need someone to talk to us about the last 20 years of Ventura Motors to bring the history written by the late Ken Cornwall up to date.

Frankston Passenger Service has been sold to the Grenda Group from 1st October 2002.   The company will be retained in its present form for 6 months after which restructuring may occur.
