Unit Objectives:

The student will learn letter key operation using touch-typing to enter and manipulate text and data for an entry-level position an/or for personal communication. In addition, the student will become a proficient user of Microsoft Word to include basic formatting and processing.

The student is graded on the quality of work completed averaged with total points possible as well as classroom behavior. In addition, the Curriculum Mastery Policy will be implemented.

MAKE-UP POLICY

Students will be allowed to make up all work regardless of excessive absences, suspension, or other unexcused absences. Make-up work turned in for an unexcused absence will count 80%. It is the pupil's responsibility to find out what work he/she missed during an absence from class and to make it up.

REQUEST FOR HOMEWORK

Requests for homework may only be made by a parent/guardian when their child will be absent for one totwo weeks due to illness. Parents/guardians are encouraged to contact the teacher by email www.volusia.k12.fl.us/beasle. Parents/guardians may also contact the guidance department to obtain class assignments. For short-term absences students are encouraged to notify their teachers prior to the absence. It should be noted that this is a performance-based course requiring a computer and specific software. Every effort will be made to provide assignments that can be done at home.
