2006 Dentonia Open Results

Golf historians speculated that the 10:00 a.m. tee time (on Saturday, July 15) was the earliest in the history of The Open.  The time was chosen to allow Geoff to get an early start on his drive back to Baton Rouge, and allowed the competitors to avoid the worst of what was a hot and humid day, albeit with a nice breeze.

Despite occasional flashes of brilliance, mediocrity was the order of the day, with Bill's winning score of 69 being the highest since 1987.  The ultra-slow greens played havoc with the players' speed judgement, and one-putts were few and far between.  Bernie sizzled mid-round and led after the front, but perhaps his arms were tired after he flew in from Dallas the day before.  John's new used clubs felt good, but it may take him awhile to "iron" out his game with them.  (He did, however, focus on what's important, taking home a boatload of cash by leading with 7 skins.)
