Despite occasional flashes of brilliance, mediocrity was the order of
the day, with Bill's winning score of 69 being the highest since 1987.
The ultra-slow greens played havoc with the players' speed judgement, and
one-putts were few and far between. Bernie sizzled mid-round and
led after the front, but perhaps his arms were tired after he flew in from
Dallas the day before. John's new used clubs felt good, but it may
take him awhile to "iron" out his game with them. (He did, however,
focus on what's important, taking home a boatload of cash by leading with
7 skins.)
