This is my winter time hobby. Ever since I was a little boy I always dreamed of having a machine to blow snow with instead of shoveling and plowing. After the heavy snows of 1997 I decided I would build a blower that would move on the highway easily and would have enough power to move snow easily. I found a rusted out orchard sprayer with a 6354 Perkins diesel engine that was sufficient for power and light enough to use on a 3/4-ton pickup. |

The Perkins engine puts out 120 hp at 2200 rpm. I did a lot of searching for a blower unit that was light enough to carry on the front of a pickup and would stand the power needed to efficiently move snow. I located the blower unit at Loftness Specialized Equipment Co. in Hector MN. The blower unit was mounted on the front of the pickup using the existing shop built plow frame. The blower unit is powered from the rear-mounted engine via shaft and belt drive. The hydraulic controls for the blower are powered from a pump on the pickup engine. This helps fill in the slow times in the winter. Depending on the weather, sometimes the slow times are not so slow. |

Another one of my interests or hobbies if you would call it, is learning more about what makes cars and trucks tick. I spend a lot of time researching, conversing with other automotive technicians and learning using the International Automotive technicians network. Currently there are 30,187 technicians from 106 countries working together sharing information to make the job of repairing automobiles better for everybody. I am always interested in diesel power. For you guys that have diesel powered Ford and GM pickups look at The Dieselman's page. There is a lot of good stuff here that might be of some help. Here's a new concept in heavy truck diesel power. The Rodi Diesel engine. Take a look and see what's new! |

Since the age of fourteen, I have had an interest in bluegrass--gospel guitar music. I enjoy spending time with groups making music. I also enjoy picking and singing to My Lord. Alice and I often sing at church services and during the summer we get together with groups to pick and sing. If you like guitar and Bluegrass music, check out these links. You can search out songs by title, phrases or author here. The Gospel Music Archive
