Imagine spending 10 straight hours with 4 of your friends. It sounds like fun, right? But what if those 10 hours turned into 100 hours—or even 1000 hours—of just you and the same four friends? The chances are that you’d probably get pretty sick of seeing your friends’ faces. That’s why we wouldn’t be surprised if the BSB told us they just can’t stand the thought of spending another hour with each other. After all, the 5 members of the Miami, Florida-based R&B band—Nick Carter, AJ McLean, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough, and Kevin Richardson—have spent thousands of hours together in practice sessions, in recording studios, in buses and concert performances. Well, believe it or not, AJ tells BB, “We never get sick of each other!”
Even when the BSB take a break from their
busy schedule, promoting such singles as “We’ve Got It Goin On” and “I’ll
Never Break your Heart” and head home, you’ll still find them hanging out
with each other. In fact, Kevin, Bri, and Howie share an apartment in Miami,
and it’s not unusual for them to call AJ and Nick to make plans for the
weekend. “We get together and play some basketball or go to the movies
or go to the arcade, “A.J. explains.
There’s a simple reason why the Backstreet
Boys are such good friends on and off stage. You see, they don’t think
of themselves as simply 5 guys who sing in the same band. “The other Backstreet
Boys,” Nick says, “they’re like my big brohters.”
For Nick and his bandmates, that means
never allowing angry arguments or petty problems to ruin their relationship.
“Occationally we’ll have our spats,” Kevin says. “But you know, it’s like
we’re a big family and it’s okay. We’re brothers.”
