He may only be a ten-year-old, but Aaron is about to launch his career on a path to success: supporting his older, and at the present, slightly more famous Backstreet Boys brother Nick, on their summer blockbuster tour! We caught up with Aaron in the Carter Family house earlier this year to ask him what it was like growing-up in his famous brother's footsteps.
Do you and Nick share a bedroom?
"Yeah, we do. It's really more my room than Nick's because he's always away. Even when he isn't around though, his stuff is all over the place… he is really messy! I usually end up cleaning up after him."
Is there much sibling rivalry between yourself and Nick?
"I don't think so because Nick is very supportive of me and of this tour. I like being the little brother, even though he picks on me sometimes. Probably the worst spats we get into are over the Nintendo. Nick really hates it when I beat him. Nobody could be a better brother than Nick, though."
What is it like living in the Carter household?
"In a word, busy! See, my sisters are also breaking into show business so there is always a grueling schedule. We also have a few pets, four dogs, and three cats, as well as birds and fish. Once the dogs saved my life when I had fallen asleep at the beach by pulling me safely to shore."
Are you nervous about the upcoming tour with Nick and the rest of the Backstreet Boys?
"Not at all. We're basically all friends. I get along with Brian really well so he's my best friend when I'm away from home. Nick really looks out for me too. Like, when I'm about to go onstage he'll come over and sit me down and say with total seriousness, 'Now don't worry, just imagine there are only two or three people out there and sing to them.' It really works! Nick is good like that. I couldn't ask for a better brother."
What can fans look forward to in the future?
"Nick and I are going to do a duet together next year. It's a song by Billy Ocean called 'Loverboy." I'm really looking forward to it an I know Nick is, too. I also plan to start getting involved with movies soon. I'd love to do an action movie starring the brothers of Hanson and Coolio. I don't want any girls, however because then I'd have to kiss them. I'm not ready for that!"
Nick has said that he wished he could create an award for 'Smallest Pop Star' so you could win. How has fame affected you?
"I honestly don’t think it has affected me much. In this family, especially after Nick's success, everyone just takes things in stride. We are just a normal family after all. I mean, I have my friends, my pets and this tour to keep me busy all summerlong. We are just thankful to our fans becase they are really the fuel behind this mission."
