Howdy Fellow Commodore Users!
This year should be an exciting year for Expositions of Commodore
and Amiga enthusiasts.
The Vintage Computer Festival will be held on the East Coast
sometime this summer, it's too early to tell yet, but it will
probably be held in Boston, or somewhere in the New England area. The
West Coast version of this show has been attended in the past by
Robert Bernardo of the Fresno Commodore User Group, in California.
There will be an Amiga 2001 show in St. Louis Missouri this year
on March 30 thru April 1st at the Sheraton Westport Plaza.
The annual Spring Commodore Expo this year will be hosted by our
neighboring Commodore Club in Louisville (LUCKI), planned for
Memorial Day Weekend. It will be held at the Holiday Inn Express
which is actually located in New Albany, Indiana. For us in
Cincinnati, that's a two hour drive. A nice trip for the day, or
maybe the weekend?
The South West Regional Association of Programmers User Group
(SWRAP) had a wonderful expo last fall, but they haven't announced a
possible date, yet. Possibly in the September thru October range?
I am wondering if I have the time and resources to visit all of
these wonderful expositions. I even heard some news on an expo slated
for Lorain/Elyria metro area for Atari and game console enthusiasts,
this summer. The Atari has a fondness in my heart since it was my
first game console. There is talk that the Commodore folk may show up
at this event, since it too is also a game console as one of it's
alternate entities. Can you think of a better way to spend the
weekend than with folks that have a lust for the same crazy machines
you do?
Don't forget our own participation in the local computer shows
sponsored by Tradeshow Productions. Are we to make a presence with
them again this year? We may in February IF we get volunteers willing
to spend a few hours manning our booth. It doesn't have to be all
day, or the entire weekend. Don't forget, while you are there, you
can shop for those computer bargains you're always looking for, too!
Now that we've outlasted that 18 day streak of below freezing high
temperatures, I hope to see you at our next meeting on January 21st.
I don't plan to dig out my bermuda shorts, just yet, but I am looking
forward to the warm weather hopefully arriving soon.
