Howdy Fellow Commodore Users!
As I am writing this, the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas
is still going on. One thing that surprised me this year was the one
company in attendance...Commodore!
What were they showing? I have no idea, however, a very anxious
Commodore user is intending to find out and bring the scoop to the
Commodore world at large. Robert Bernardo has provided articles for
us in the past, and I was hoping for a nice article in time for our
newsletter, but alas won't happen this month. Perhaps news will
arrive in time to present at this month's meeting.
I did hear one thing from the CES which did make me chuckle a bit.
It seems consumers are asking for devices that work instantly upon
powering on. They are no longer willing to wait for the device's
operating system to load before it becomes usable. They want the unit
to be usable now. I thought to myself, didn't we have that back in
the 70s and 80s with our friendly READY prompt waiting for us as the
monitor glowed to life? Oh, that's right, some folks went over to the
next thing to come along, and traded that convenience away. Could
that be the reason Commodore is at the CES2006?
We go back to the Norwood Retirement Community for our meeting
this month, January 15th.
Keep on Commodoring!
