Howdy Fellow Commodore Users!
Earlier this month, I visited the Chicago area for the ECCC expo.
This isn't meant to be a report of that expo. I do however, have a
few comments regarding my weekend experiences.
Even though the expo wasn't sponsored by a local club, even though
the expo wasn't planned months in advance, even though there were no
major speakers planned, even though the hotel messed up with the
party room that was supposed to be reserved for the expo attendees,
even though all of these negatives and others were stacked against a
successful expo, there were nearly 50 folks in attendance!
It seems the experiences of our expo this past June seemed
remarkably similar to the ECCC expo. But, it seems the familiar
phrase keeps surfacing...."If you build it, they will come."
I was met in the ECCC expo room by one of our club members. He was
discussing his feelings of this expo, and that unless CCCC steps up
and provides a spring expo, we may be without a spring expo again in
2007. I mentioned to him I felt pretty much the same way, and thought
it was time for that discussion.
With that in mind, I would like to invite you to come to this
month's meeting where our discussions will focus on planning a spring
expo. Should we do it? Where, and when, should it be? Reflections of
this year's expo on where we went right and wrong are going to be our
guide IF we decide to go forward with a spring 2007 expo. Your
support in this matter is appreciated. We will meet this month in the
Norwood Retirement Community, October 15th.
Keep on Commodoring!
