Howdy Fellow Commodore Users!

Don't forget this month we pushed our meeting a week later, in observance of Father's Day. We will be meeting on June 27th, at the Main Cincinnati Library.

All I can say about this spring's Commodore Expo held in New Albany, Indiana was....WOW! The demos were different from years past, and very informative. I posted a schedule of the expo the morning of the expo, on comp.sys.cbm The schedule was so tight, one demo didn't get a chance to be presented during the afternoon. But, here is a lineup of what did get presented:

Linux Server 64

IDE64

Visual Basic Environment

Live BBS/internet Demo

CommodoreOne

HD-DOS+

Geos PD Software

GeoPublish v1.1

Jim Butterfield Discussion

It was a busy day, and I did not see every demo/presentation, maybe only half I actually had the time to sit and observe. After 5pm we went to have the usual dinner at Ryan's Steakhouse, and the relaxed atmosphere was stretched a little bit beyond the estimated two hours that was planned. So, the evening demos started out a couple hours or so late. Greg Nacu was to do a seminar on Programming WiNGs, which I missed, but as soon as Seth Sternberger started up his Commodore Music, I made sure I was present for a wonderful time of enjoyable SID music. Seth also made a short program of music on Friday evening for those who did make the early trip to Louisville the day before the "official" activities.

If you were visiting the chatroom #c64friends on the newnet network of irc on that Saturday evening, I did present a short first look impression of what I witnessed at the expo that day. It turned out I was not the only attending Commodore fan online, as Dave "Watson" Ross was also online, discussing his observations. If you haven't visited #c64friends on irc, consider this your invitation to join us every Saturday nite starting at 9pm EDT until midnite. You will usually find people there before and after the official times, but the discussions really get fired up during those 3 hours. Transcripts of each week's session can be found at

This month we hope to have a demo of how to use Iglou's internet shell access service, which some of our members do use. Some highlights will include how to access newsgroups, irc, email, surf the web, and a few other items if time allows. So, if you have been thinking about getting an internet service, you may wish to check out our demo this month. We hope to have all the bugs worked out, that prevented this demo many times in the past.

In closing, our election of officers last month did not happen because we did not have enough members to make the election official. Hopefully this month we will have enough members to hold our election. Please attend.

Keep on Commodoring!
