Howdy Fellow Commodore Users!
Hopefully you remembered that this month is when we move our
meeting date to the fourth Sunday (June 27th), due to Father's Day.
Our elections were held last month, and the officers of 1998-1999
was re-elected for their offices in the 1999-2000 term. The only
office without a nomination was the newsletter officer. Ed Gase has
volunteered to help out with this project, but since noone has
volunteered to help him out, I wonder if we really need to have a
newsletter. Apparently, nobody in this club values this resource (not
to mention have the status of being an officer of YOUR club)? If you
feel otherwise, please bring up your concerns, or else this member
benefit might cease to exist, or become less frequent.
Last month's meeting had a surprise to our Librarian, as the
entire collection of files from Compuserve's Commodore Library was
donated into our collection on ONE Iomega Zip Disk. Since Compuserve
no longer has a Commodore forum that is accessible to Commodores
(kind of crazy, huh?) this was deemed as an alternative to not having
those files accessible to the Commodore Community at large. Need to
know what is there? The index is large, three notebooks full, and
will be provided to the Librarian, soon.
One of my internet contacts, (whom you have read in our
newsletter) Robert Bernardo, informed me of a radio program being
broadcast in California devoted entirely of C64 SID music. The
collection is from a website called the High Voltage SID Collection.
The site has 19MB (compressed) of SID music and it is still growing.
That equates to approximately 125+ 1541 sides of music! This music is
from the famous and not so famous C64 games and those wonderful
Hacker Club intros. If you have access to a IBM Compatible or
Macintosh, you can even listen to this radioprogram on the internet,
every Tuesday night at 11ET (8PT). The address is:
www.kdvs.org
Hard Hat Mack is the DJ for this radio program.
We will probably add the HVSC collection to our library, which can
be played on a true Commodore 64 as well as emulators, if there is
ample interest. Let your librarian know. For those with internet
connections, the address for the High Voltage SID Collection is:
http://hvsc.c64.org
If you have nothing better to do on a hot muggy summer day, why
not let your Commodore be your entertainer with this classic
collection of music.
