Howdy Fellow Commodore Users!
This month is our annual officer elections, so be sure to get out
to this month's meeting, on May 16th, and vote for your favorite
officers! We are still needing a nomination for Newsletter Editor, so
if you like reading your newsletters, you might want to get yourself
nominated for this office. Nominations can still be accepted up to
the moment of the elections.
On May 1st, Roger Hoyer and myself attended the Commodore Expo,
located at Okemos Michigan. Many people showed up to check out the
show, a head count of 38 attendees was the agreed upon attendance.
There were many people setting up exhibitions, including your
group from Cincinnati. Randy Harris, from SWRAP (Chicago, Illinois)
had on display his SX-64 with an added Hard Drive and FD drive. He
announced the date of the Chicago Expo of September 25th at the same
location as in 1998.
Raymond Day had on display his C-65, playing a modified version of
Stereo Sid-player V10.33, that would play in C-65 mode! He admitted
that he could not get it to work in monophonic, yet, but he was
working on it. He also had on display, a 1581 hardware hack, as
described in the recent issue of Commodore World. What was special
about this unit, was that a standard pc-clone drive mechanism was
used within a 1581 enclosure. So, if you have fears of your drive
dying in the future, you now have a repair option available to you.
Maurice Randall had on display a few items that brought attention
all day. He was running the latest incarnation of Wheels, V4.2, and
his program available on the web that is an upgrade (almost) to
geoProgrammer, a digital photo printer utility (which will be part of
Dale Sidebottom's Postscript series), and the highlight of the day,
geoShell. GeoShell is still in beta form, V3.0, but it looked vastly
improved over the previous version 2.2.
There were other tables of items for sale, even a Commodore
Cookbook from the members of the Commodore Forum on Delphi. A demo of
Delphi was hoped for, but was not possible, as the phone lineswere
causing problems with the connection.
Lots of pictures were taken during the expo, and I am sure that
some of those will make it to the pages of the newsletters we receive
from the exchange program, or possibly onto the web pages of fellow
Commodore enthusiasts. It was a pretty safe bet that everyone had a
good time, and I know that I am looking forward to the next show!
