Howdy Commodore Folks!

Hopefully you found your bargains at our swap meet in October. Congratulations go to the door prize winners, they won some great prizes!

This month, the demo of the month is Commodore Emulators on non-Commodore equipment. A project our librarian (Ed Gase) is working on involves converting our entire library onto Iomega Zip Disks. This was implemented to aid in a backup of our library collection, and also to minimize the amount of equipment and supplies necessary for the librarian to bring to the meetings every month.

Ed will be demonstrating a program on an IBM compatible laptop, a 1541 Drive, and a Zip Drive, that he will be using to convert the library. Yours truly will be demonstrating a program on the Macintosh Platform. Other platforms have emulators such as Amiga, Unix, Dos, Windows, to name a few. Converting our library to this new format, will allow our library to be used by even more Commodore Enthusiasts. If you need the specific file, right away, it can be emailed to those with internet addresses (at a cost we have yet to agree on).

Many of you are aware that the Chicago group SWRAP had a Commodore Expo in October, the weekend after our swap meet. I was lucky enough to be able to attend. A brief report will be given at this month's meeting. I was fortunate in meeting some big names in the Commodore Lore, including Jim Butterfield, Fender Tucker, Maurice Randall, among others. Your editor might have an expo reprint elsewhere in this issue.

Our web page progress is waiting on your input! We currently have mention in two other Commodore Web pages, that I am aware of. Ideas of what you would like to see can be added very easily, all you have to do is suggest. The space we are currently using is only .1% of our total allocated space. If you have an email address, and would like to have your name added to a list of contacts on our web page, please email me at:

snogpitch@prodigy.net

I would also like to get your email address, whether or not you wish to be placed on the web page. It can be sent to the same address, but make sure you indicate if you want placed on the web page or not. Last minute press releases sometimes do not make it to the newsletter, and phone calls can take much longer than emails...especially important for those long distance members. I will forward all the information to our Membership Officer Ike Geer.

See you at this month's meeting on November 15th!
