In the last few months I have been busy programming (mostly) and reading and watching movies.
Of course, I haven't miss the Christmas and New Year fever...
About the programming part:
Today I am happy because I was able to write a new document, one that I have waited way too much to write it. I am talking about SSH access for Allied Telesyn's routers and Layer 3 switches. This document represent a MUST do if you want to improve your network security.
Some minor changes to site's css description document have been done in order to improve the formatting of some elements (the "note", "warning" and similar ones).
I have changed the site's layout:
Articles
is gone;Docs
is enough, and is a single page starting from now on;Plans
is a new section (interesting, I hope) of this site.I have uploaded the Using Visual Studio and xsltproc to create xml projects for transforming .xml files to .html files document.
I have uploaded the
Naming, labeling and coloring the network ports article.
If you think that the subject of this document is trivial you are making a really big
mistake.
I have added a simple document on how to apply the settings for
Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)
through Group Policy.
You can read it
here.
I have added a document that deals with installation and a basic configuration of
Honeyd 1.0
in Fedora Core 4
.
Altough this should be a "simple" task, some problems have arised:
Honeyd 1.0
and Arpd 0.2
applications
Honeyd 1.0
's source code to be able
to read the new OS fingerprint format that comes with Xprobe2 0.2.2
Nmap 3.81
's OS fingerprints
To see how the whole process was done, including the techinal details, read the document.
I have added a document that deals with Adamantix installation and a little bit of basic configuration (like enabling SSHD).
It is usefull for beginers with Adamantix. You can read the document
here.
I have to mention that the document is just a draft.
See how I have solved two really ugly Windows errors. I mean ugly because I have searched the net
and Microsoft
's site for nothing.
One of the errors deals with Automatic Updates not performed in a network with Windows Server 2003 Active Directory.
The error 0x80004015 was logged by the clients. Read it
here.
The other error had a similar cause lke the previous mentioned one but deals with IIS failing to run after sometime.
IIS was enabled by a Group Policy Object. You can read the document
here.
