Location of Turtle Paradise ads | Trick in chocobo Racing | Duplicating items | Monster's Weaknesses | Back Room | Da-Chao Cave | Kalm Traveler | Gil to GP | Unlimited Tetra Elements | Secret Caves | Materia Combos | Other Tips
Here are some tips and tricks that will help you throughout the game:
Location of all the Turtle Paradise ads:
1) The first ad is located in Midgar. It is in the area before entering Aries' house in the house farthest to the right. Go upstairs and you will see a boy sleeping. Look on the wall and read the papers. You will then have found the first flier.
2) The second flier is located also in Midgar on the first floor of the Shinra building. Go past the 2 staircases and read a bunch of papers on a bulletin board near the elevators. This is the second flier.
3) The third ad is inside the Gold Saucer ghost hotel. Look around on the floor once you enter for the word SHOP. Look next to it on the wall and you will see a piece of paper. Read it and you will have read the third flier.
4) The fourth ad is in Cosmo Canyon. Go to the weapon shop and look to the left of the shop. There is a piece of paper pinned to the weapon shop stand. Read it and you will discover the fourth ad.
5) The fifth ad is also located in Cosmo Canyon. It is located on the floor above the bar- like place in the hotel. Look on the wall next to the counter and you will see a gold piece of paper. This paper is the fifth flier.
6)The final ad is located in Yuffie's hometown. First , you must have completed her sidequest so that you can go into her house. Walk through the doorway until you get into the room with the cage trap and switches. Look towards the next doorway and you will see a scroll. Read it and you will find the final flier.
While racing at the Gold Saucer, hold down R1+R2 and L1+L2 to raise your chocobo's stamina. To raise their speed, hold down L1+R1.
This cheat allows you to duplicate almost any item. (no power sources, magic sources, etc., or weapons) You must have at least two of the item that you want to duplicate for this to work. Equip the W-Item materia and enter battle. The W-item materia is located in the area at the end of disc 2. There is a long tunnel that you will have to pass. Go all the way down until you see a yellow materia. (This takes a while). Once you have gotten the materia, equip it and get into battle. Select the W-Item command and use the item you want to duplicate. Then choose the second item. However, do not actually use the second item. Select it so only the cursor appears on the monster or person by pressing O. Then press X to cancel. You will find the quantity of the item will increase by one. Repeat as you desire.
Monsters'
Weaknesses Some monsters have elemental
weaknesses. If you use the correct type of magic, you will be able to take
more damage away.
Monsters Elemental Weakness Mechanical Lightning Ice/Water
Fire Fire-based Ice/Water Flying Wind Land-based Gravity Jenova
Holy
During the second disc go to the general store in Cosmo Canyon. The section that
was roped off before is now open and you can go in the back and collect the
fullcure materia, and Elixir, and a Magic Source.
In the submarine dock at the Underwater reactor pick up the Leviathan Scales.
Then go to the Da-Chao mountains in Wutai and go into the fire cave. Walk into
each of the fires to put them out. There will be three items: Oritsuru (weapon
for Yuffie), Steal As Well Materia, and Dragoon Lance (weapon for Cid).
In the rightmost building in Kalm there is a man upstairs who is looking for 3
items. He starts his search after Meteor is summoned. Give him the Guidebook and
he'll give you the Underwater Materia, which eliminates the timer on Emerald
WEAPON. to find it moreph the Ghost Ship that you encounter near the Underwater
Reactor. If you give him the Desert Rose, which you get from defeating Ruby
WEAPON, he will give you a crappy Gold Chocobo. If you give him the Earth Harp,
from defeating Emerald WEAPON he will give you each of the three master materia.(
check Emerald and Ruby Weapon guide to defeat them)
1/60 times you see the ropeway station on the Gold Saucer side you will see a
guy who will trade in your Gil for GP. The rate is 100 Gil=1 GP, up to 100 GP.
Tetra Elementals are accessories that absorb fire/ince/lightning/earth damage
into HP. They are very useful. Go to Cosmo Canyon and go diectly south. There
will be an island there with a desert. Land and fight the cactus dudes. Morph
them (they have like 4500 HP) and you get a tetra elemental. I recommend getting
3 of them.
Mime: obtained from the cave south of Wutai. (can be obtained by green or gold
chocobo)
HP<->MP: obtained from the cave in the Corel area (blue or gold chocobo
needed)
Quadra Magic: obtained from the cave on the mideel island (black or gold chocobo
needed)
Knights of the Round: can be obtained from the northeastern cave.*note this island is NOT located on the map. (only the gold chocobo can help you obtain it.)
Elemental+Lightning, Fire, Ice | If linked on weapon slots then attack will be based on what materia is linked to Elemental, If linked on armor slots then user becomes immune to materia type attacks linked to Elemental |
Final Attack+Phoenix | very very usefull, when killed user will summon Phoenix and revive the whole party, great for fighting the Weapons |
Counter Attack+Counter Attack+Counter Attack,etc... | My favorite materia combo, while I build my levels in the swamps I make sure to master about 15-20 or more of these babies, Emerald doesn't have a chance now, when attacked you attack as many times in a row as counters equiped |
Sneak Attack+any good attack materia | As soon as battle starts whatever materia linked to Sneak Attack will be used |
Knights of the Round+HP Absorb/MP Absorb | Really hurt the enemy and get HP or MP back at the same time, use on Ruby |
Added Effect+Poison or other good materia | attack with linked materia typed damage, poision is very usefull against bosses |
An easy way to beat the emerald weapon is to get the lucky sevens trick by going into battle and getting the last 2 digits in a characters health to 77 and then just using potions and hi potions to bring their hp up to 7777. then go in a fight the emerald weapon. its not so hard if you don't mind wasting a while (well I wouldn't call it wasting). it cant take that long. Oh and some good materia combinations (though I've never tried some of them) are.....(they are supposed to work but don't get upset if they don't) cover/counter (best if both are mastered) when anyone gets attacked you counter. Quadra magic/ultima and w-magic- you can attack 8 times with ultima, quadra magic/bahamut zero and w-magic- you can attack 8 times with bahamut zero, mp turbo/knights of the round-gives character with it equipped about 90000 hp (only if knights of round hasn't been brought up a level) w-summon/knights of the round-over 130000hp!(only if you have brought knights of round up a level 2 times i think or it might be one you can try both) the previous 2 . I have never tried so I'm not guaranteeing they work and the hp levels weren't typos that's really how much you get supposedly. Mega all/steal-steal from everyone ultima/counter (not counter attack)-when you get hit , attack with ultima! well there's a whole lot of stuff left that I'd love to write but I don't have enough time. ff7 is just filled with secrets and no matter how much I play, I'm sure I will never figure them all out.
