Our very short season has now finally come to a close. This season has certainly not been one of our best, but I hope everyone has had fun. I have left the game reviews in the site and the player statistics if you still wish to view them. I hope to see you next season and if I don't, good luck for your future cricket careers.
Our first game was played at Bradbury versus Collegians. Since I was not present for most of the game I don't really know what took place that game. We were dismissed for a fairly low total of 39. Top score of the first innings was Ricky with 16 runs, which was pretty impressive considering the circumstance. In our bowling, we did not do too well. The innings started well with Daryl dismissing one of their openers for 5. But this good streak did not last long. The next pair lasted for the rest of their innings . They finished on 2/171. Again our batting was not very good. We were dismissed in an hour and a half for a total of 58 runs. Hopefully this trend of loosing will end.
Ricky: 16, 13
Daryl: 1/26 (7)
In game two versus Cobbitty, we again did not play very well. We won the toss and bowled first on a slightly damp wicket. At drinks we were doing okay having them 0/66 after 20 overs. But this did not last for long. They got away from us towards the end of their innings scoring a massive total of 290 runs. In our batting we did very poorly yet again. Scoring 32 all up in the first innings, and 43 runs all up in the second innings, we lost the game outright with half an hour remaining.
Andrew: 3/41 (10)
Daniel: 11, 17
Finally we have competition points on the board. In this game coming off a two match loosing streak, we won the toss and again elected to bowl first. After a slow start we began to take wickets fairly quickly. At drinks we had them 4 / 99 and we were bowling and fielding exceptionally well. After drinks we picked up our intensity a bit. We took the last 6 wickets for 44 runs. There were some exceptional efforts in the field in taking those last 6 wickets, these included Rickies diving catch at mid on, and Sean stumping. In our one and only innings with the bat, we played extremely well. Toms 89 was the highlight of the innings, though Sean quick fire 52 n.o. was outstanding as well. After 60 overs we completed our innings at 3 / 225. With a bit over an hour remaining we sent them in again. Malveen who was on a hat trick from the previous innings opened the bowling for our team. Unfortunately he missed the hat trick but took a wicket 3 balls later. Unfortunately, time beat us to an outright result. When time stopped play we had them 8 / 96. Even though we did not win outright, the team played very well. We should be happy with this result.
Me (Luke): 4/27 (6)
Malveen: 2/11 (3) and 3/19 (2.4). {on a hat trick}
Tom: 89
Sean:52 n.o.
Coming off a high, the team was fairly confident going in to this game. Loosing the toss, we were sent in to bat by Ingleburn and got off to a very slow start. Loosing the first three wickets for just 11 runs, things were not looking very good for the team. Luckily the next partnership between Myself and Danny was 53 runs. The team struggled along to 114 runs off 43 overs, with some good performances in the tail (excluding Andrew). Set 115 to win, we needed to bowl very well. The first wicket was taken in the 17th over which was too late. Ingleburn reached the total in the 23rd over, and went on to score 6 dec. for 211 runs. In our second innings, we batted fairly well. Again we had a very slow start. At 2/1 things weren't looking to good for us at all. But thanks to some good batting by Sean and Daniel, we managed to reach 55 before loosing our next wicket. With some good positive batting, the team made it to 9/141, with a good batting performance by Daniel with 66 runs and Andrew with 12 (unfortunately no sixes).
Daniel: 25 and 66 n.o.
Damian: 3/21 (4.1)
Malveen: 2/14 (3)
Coming off a sort of high with a good batting performance, we won the toss and elected to bowl. Unfortunately Andrew had injured his shoulder before the game and was unable to play, so we opened the bowling with Ricky and Daryl. With the score at 0/73 things were not looking good for the team. When we finally got our first wicket, wickets started to fall fairly quickly. At Lunch we had them 8/138 and things were looking pretty good for us. This was until we took the field again after lunch. As a result of some very poor fielding, Camden slipped away from us and managed to score 231 before being dismissed. This was very disappointing. As usual, our batting performance was not very good. At 5/12 it looked as if we wouldn't even last for an hour. But thanks to an 18 run 10th wicket partnership between David and Ashley, we managed to get 57 runs before being dismissed. In our second innings with the bat we improved on our first innings total by 92 runs. This was mainly thanks to Peters 38 n.o.
Me: 3/32 (10)
Daniel: 3/38 (10)
David: 8 and 7
Ashley: 11 n.o. and 1
Peter:38 n.o.
This game was set to be a huge challenge for our team. Missing most of our key batters and one of our bowlers, it was set to be an even bigger challenge for us. Geoff for the first time this season, was finally able to play for us. He certainly made a difference to our teams performance. Loosing the toss, Ingleburn elected to bat on a fairly damaged Memorial pitch. We started off our innings very well. Taking the first two wickets for only 5 runs, the task ahead seemed not so difficult after all. Unfortunately, this success was short lived. Ingleburn managed to make their way to a score of 269. This was an enormous score especially on a ground of that size. As usual our batting was not good. We lasted 23 overs struggling to a score of 43. In our second innings we seemed to perform much better. Thanks to Geoff 20 and Sean's 34, we were able to make it to 7/78 before rain stopped play.
Geoff: 5/23 (8.3) and 16 and 20
Andrew: 1/37 (10)
Sean: 34
This game was always set to be a challenge for the team. Loosing the toss we were sent in by Tahmoor to bat on the superturfed backup ground. We got off to a good start, loosing no wickets in the first ten over period. Tom and Peter helped our team along to 50 before the first wicket was lost. Unfortunately, this good batting did not last much longer. At 5/92 it looked like we were going to be dismissed for another small total. We managed to crawl our way to a sort of respectable total of 144 before our last wicket was lost. We needed to take some early wickets to have a chance of winning. Unfortunately this did not happen. As a result of some very ordinary fielding and many dropped catches, Tahmoor reached the target in the 36th over and declared 4 overs later. With one hour to bat, the goal was to reach 75 runs to receive a bonus point. We did this as a result of some excellent batting from Geoff and Peter. Geoff scored 76 runs in 11 overs hitting four 6's and ten 4's. This was certainly the highlight of the day.
Geoff: 76
Me: 24
Peter: 23 and 21 n.o
After our first round effort against Collegians, the teams morale was obviously not very high. Loosing the toss, we were sent in to bat first. Thanks to some good batting by Tom and Peter, we managed to survive the new ball bowlers without too much damage. We batted for much longer then our first game efforts versus Collegians, surviving over two hours. When we were finally dismissed we were on 119, thanks to an excellent innings by Geoff of 51. We started off our bowling fairly well dismissing one of their openers in the first over. But unfortunately as a result of some very difficult missed opportunities they were able to get away from us. They posted 240 before declaring. A special mention to David, Ashley and Daniel's bowling performances picking up their first wicket for the season during this innings. As usual we batted much better in our second innings then in our first. Thanks to an excellent batting performance by Geoff (101 n.o.) and Tom (38 n.o.) we managed to survive the rest of the day before we declared the day closed.
Geoff: 51 and 101 n.o.
Tom: 38 n.o.
Sorry guys no game this week. Our final game is versus Cobbitty/ Narellan 2. Please Contact me if you can't play.
The team was really looking forward to playing our final game versus Cobbitty. Unfortunately the field was soaking wet, and even though the sun was out and already starting to dry out the field, we were still unable to play. This is our final game for the season and we should have defeated this team. I hope to see many of you continue to play cricket in the seniors next season.
