COMMITTEE/TEAM REPORTS
CAMPVILLE SENIOR CITIZENS
Thirty-eight members of Campville Senior Citizens met at the Senior Community Center in Owego for a luncheon of roast turkey and dressing with the usual accompanying goodies on Friday, April 21st. Dick Coleman and Bonnie provided music while we ate. We sang Happy Birthday to Christine Bower and Pete Valese, two of our faithful members.
The meeting was conducted by Frank Brown. Sunshine reported that Bill Fiester had been taken to Sullivan Park, Health Care Center for therapy.
Betty Cole reported that the trip on June 20th to Lake George was full and a waiting list. Marietta Snedaker read the report of the Death of Pillsbury Doughboy and Marilyn Kline gave the meanings of the colors of jelly beans. Jean Remine, membership chair, reported that we have two new members.
Our next meeting will be at Campville United Methodist Church on May 19, 2000.

WORSHIP COMMITTEE
The worship committee met on May 17th to look at and discuss worship services and to set up schedule of communion services through October.
The team discussed a number of issues but no decisions reached such as concern for having visitors sign the guest book so that persons can be contacted etc. Members were asked to think about the Order of Worship and consider some changes. Think about the Passing of the Peace in terms of when, how, and where in the service. These items to be discussed at a future meeting.
The usher schedule was discussed. Maybe look at first and second Sundays to see if others might be interested in helping out.
The use of pew sheets was discussed. This might help in having visitors sign and an opportunity for attendees to indicate need for call by the pastor, individual requests, etc.
UNITED METHODIST WOMEN
The United Methodist Women will be coordinating and leading morning worship on Sunday, June 11th . Our pastor and Jeanne will be in Minnesota participating in the wedding of Rev. Jameson's niece.
On Saturday, June 10th the United Methodist Women are planning a rummage sale, bake sale, bake sale and a luncheon menu of soup and sandwiches. This is one of the two fund raisers for the women each year. If you have items you would like to donate to the women's sale bring it to the church on Friday, June 9th. The women will be setting up in the morning.
Our June meeting will be held at the Hickories, weather permitting, with a picnic at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14th. All women are invited to attend. Just bring a dish to pass and your own table service.

COLLEGE AND HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES
From the Campville Church family the following persons represent our college and high school graduates. If a name is omitted, I apologize. If you know of a graduate who was not recognized in this newsletter please let the pastor or Betty Dodge know and the graduate will be recognized in the next newsletter.
From Hartwick College Russell Becker graduated with a degree in Anthropology. Russell is the grandson of Marietta Snedaker. Russell plans on spending six weeks of his summer in Russia as he did last year. Congratulations, Russell!
Sara Guarnieri, daughter of Anthony and Sandra Guarnieri and grandaughter of Dave and Betty Barrett graduates from high school in Ohio during the June 9th weekend. Dave and Betty will be going to Ohio to attend this important event of their eldest grandchild. As you may recall Sara for most of her life lived in the Campville area and attended our church. Sara plans to attend Ohio University in the fall and is interested in Theater and Dance. Sara also graduates as one of the top 25 in her class of over 1000. As you may recall Sara along with Jennifer Powell and Heather Toepke and BriAnne Schweitzer were some of our active youth Sunday School class and loved to perform for the congregation in the early 1990's. They were talented and loved to sing and dance. I on behalf of the Campville Church want to congratulate Sara and Jennifer and wish them well in their college plans.
Jennifer Powell, daughter of Doug and Debbie Powell, graduates June 24th from Union Endicott High School and plans to attend Geneseo in the fall. Jennifer too is looking to a future in performing in dance and singing. We have been blessed with Jennifer's talents in singing and acting as a liturgist for the past few years. Sometime prior to her leaving for college a get together is being planned. We thank you Jennifer for your gifts of voice shared with us and wish you well in your college plans.

From the Pastors Desk
Annual Conference is next week! It is hard to believe that a year has passed so quickly. Soon we will be having church Conference debriefing meetings. Dave Barrett and myself will be reporting at the next council meetings.
Jean and I will be away for the week after Annual Conference. Betty Dodge, lay speaker from Campville, will be leading the morning worship services on June 4th. John Black will be leading the worship service at St Paul's and the Woman's society will be leading the Campville service, on June 11th. Rev. Guy Burt will be available for any emergencies; he can be reached through the lay leaders or Council Chairperson. Jean and I will be returning on June 14th.
Let us all take some moments during the upcoming busy schedules of summer and reflect on our spiritual well being. The summer months are great for seeking a quiet warm spot where we can meditate on those things most important to us. We need to give thanks to God for all the many wonderful things that are happening in our lives. Often times it may be hard to see the good things and the wonderful spirits around us; however this is the times when it is the most important. We need to strive never to lose faith in ourselves or the Lord.
Just the other day I became a victim of "accumulated circumstances", lack of a better name. A period of time when things proceed to go from bad to worse. The day had started of with great promise and then the first embarrassing moment arose when I made a fool of myself in front of some colleges and then things got worse. Pulling out into traffic I proceeded to have a auto accident. My first reaction was "not now Lord! Why are you picking on me?" After a moment of thought it came to my realization that no person was hurt and the damage was minimal. It did not make receiving a ticket any easier or being polite to the other people involved; however I did and I was. I was able to be polite and thankful at the same time, in a tough situation when things seemed to be going from bad to worse. I took several moments to meditate during the traffic mishap, (waiting for the officer to show up and filling out the paper work) which had a calming affect on my normally serene personality. As I proceeded to handle the next problem, which was really a continuation of the first problem, things again began to get sticky. While praying and driving and having discussions with little results in my favor, I called a friend. Thank God for friends and wives.
Jeanne and I wish you all a great and wonderful summer.
May your lives be enriched with the Spiritual fruit of Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Generosity, Faithfulness, gentleness, and Self-control. In the name of the Spirit, Pastor Fred

WORSHIP COMMITTEE MEETING
The worship committee met on Wednesday May 24th and completed plans for the Memorial Sunday worship service. St Paul's dedicated the new Easy Access Ramp and the new Sanctuary Lights. As a further part of the memorial service the names of the five veterans, from the memorial stones in front of our church, were placed on prayer tags, along with fifty five others and attached to red, white & blue balloons which were released into the atmosphere at the end of the worship service. These spirits and balloons rose out of sight on a beautiful clear sunny morning.
Thanks to Dee Dee Troseth for children's books donated from her home for books sent to needy children at Annual Conference.
Thanks to Golda
Hotchkiss and Bob Anthony for the hot air Balloons.
