Information is good, but
it’s even better if you share it with others so that they too can begin to understand
the importance of making informed choices at this critical stage of their
lives. The activities in this section
will help you share your newfound knowledge and skills with others who may have
need of it.
You must do one activity
from this section.
1) An important part of planning for the future beyond
high school is graduating from high school.
Become involved with, or start, a peer mentoring group or tutoring group
to help others achieve the goal of graduation day.
2) Help to set up a Careers and Education Panel for
students at your school or other Senior Girl Scouts. This could involve a panel discussion for students to attend, a
network of adults willing to consult and advise others who are interested in
their fields, or another format of your choice. Members of the panel should
represent a wide range of interests, and be willing to talk about their
professional responsibilities, choices, and career and educational paths. Make
this resource available to others.
3) Girl Scouts doesn’t end with high school. Interview
a Campus Girl Scout about her/his participation and activities. (Use the CGS Council Finder
to see if there’s a group near you, or contact
the Campus Girl Scouts Information Center to set up an electronic interview
with someone.) If this is not possible,
interview an appropriate council staff member about opportunities in your
council and beyond for young adult volunteers and Campus Girl Scouts in
particular. Share this information with
other Senior Girl Scouts in your council.
4) Create an attractive visual display for your high
school guidance office, school library, or local library about the options
available for high school graduates to obtain further education. Arrange to display it.
