In Kosovo, Combat Camera has a highly versatile and dynamic job. We are stationed at Camp Bondsteel near Ferizaj, Kosovo. Many times, our jobs take us "outside the wire" (outside the barbed wire fences of Bondsteel). Once outside, we document, using both still and video media, the various events that take place in Kosovo which range from humanitarian missions such as clothing distributions and community rebuilding projects with Civil Affairs to hard-core military missions like area patrols and cordons and searches for weapons and munitions with the Infantry.
The Combat Camera teams in Kosovo are comprised of United States Army soldiers in both the Reserve and Active Components. The Reservists are stationed in Wilson, North Carolina and their Active Duty counterparts are stationed in Fort Meade, Maryland. Qualified Combat Camera specialists are skilled in photography, videography, photo and video editing and the use of software relevant to our mission.
Basically, we function as the "eyes on the ground" for the commander of Task Force Falcon at Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo and the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington, DC. We provide still and motion imagery for the purposes of reconnaissance, historical and archival documentation, Pentagon briefings, and intelligence gathering. |
